Brody File Exclusive: Todd Akin Says 'Legitimate Rape' Comment Became A Spiritual Warfare Moment

Todd Akin, the former Congressman who angered the Republican establishment when he uttered the words, “legitimate rape” during his campaign for the Senate two years ago, tells The Brody File that during that time he felt a spiritual warfare battle going on saying, “I was protected but it seemed like there was this intense war between good and evil.”

Watch below and read the partial transcription below the video.

Todd Akin: I felt sort of peaceful, as though I was in a parachute. I sort of felt that on each side of me were these towering cumulus clouds. On the one side lightning and thunder of evil and the other side brilliant light of good and I sort of felt like I was literally on the front lines and evil and good were going at it all around me and I’m thinking, ‘how did I get here so fast? If you want a mental picture, sometimes you just have to think of a bizarre picture but that’s what it felt like. It was sort of I felt a sense of peace like I was protected but it seemed like there was this intense war between good and evil…

Akin stopped by our studios this afternoon to promote his new book out this week called, Firing Back: Taking on the Party Bosses and Media Elite to Protect Our Faith and Freedom.

More from the interview on our next Brody File show.

His comments were off the wall. Rape is awful. It's a crime of hate. He stuck his foot in his mouth. Now he's written a book. I feel for him but he's the one who did himself in. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy and do the devils work on ourselves. I saw him on Fox and he still can't clean it up. I hope in the book he did a better job of explaining himself.

I think in his original statement, Congressman Akin meant to state that in most cases of rape... where there is absolutely no desire to even initiate anything sexual (platonic friendship would be the closest it comes to knowing the perpetrator/rapist)the level of stress and abhorrence after the rape aids the women in terminating the pregnancy if any by making the raped woman's body chemistry becomes a nightmare for the fertilized egg. It will not take hold on the uterine wall wher blood flow is constricted and other required body receptors are in rejection mode. For women who get caught up in the passion initially but then say no, this rejection mode may not take place at all or comes too late to stop the pregnancy.
Todd is a sentimental guy, a good husband and father. The recent comments here play well before kids and those who know him, but not to the audience of angry, NOW, LGBT, pro-choice, women with PMS, raped or assaulted(?)and other maladies known to some women, but not all.
