Exclusive: Rand Paul Says America Needs A "Spiritual Cleansing"

In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, Senator Rand Paul says America needs a, “spiritual cleansing of the people” and explains that “salvation” doesn’t come through elected leaders.

The Brody File spent a couple days with Rand Paul and his family down in Kentucky. Rand Paul’s wife (Kelley Paul) sat for the interview as well at their home in Bowling Green Kentucky.

The national profile on him (including an interview with his wife) will air on The 700 Club Thursday. We are releasing some clips ahead of the interview. We will also release more clips on Thursday. Much of this material is NOT in the final 700 Club piece.

Also, watch our Brody File show this week where we devote the entire thirty minutes to our Rand Paul coverage. Watch here.

Senator Rand Paul: “I think it’s important that people know that for the country to get better it needs more than just politicians. Politicians aren’t enough and it needs resurgence through churches, through revivals through a spiritual cleansing of the people."

Senator Rand Paul: “Changing a particular law is not going to make us a better people but that comes from the people themselves.”

Senator Rand Paul: “I don’t want people to think that salvation comes through elected leaders. It doesn’t.”

Senator Rand Paul:  “What’s the number one cause of poverty in America? It’s having kids before you’re married. Can you have a law to prevent that? I don't think any law even if you did have a law couldn't prevent it from happening. We have to convince kids that it's a big huge mistake not only from a religious point of view but from an economic point of view that it's not a good idea to have kids before you're married. The hard part is then people say you’re harsh and you’re against single moms. Well, I’m not against single moms. I just want to talk to them before they become the single mom. I want to talk to them when they’re 17 years old and convince them wait, get married and your life will be better and it’s a better way to do things.”

Senator Rand Paul: "People say you shouldn't talk about moral issues. Well, I think there are moral issues that no law will be able to fix but there's no reason why a political leader can't also have some impact in moral issues that really the law may not be able to fix but maybe by me saying that the marriage unit, the marriage unit, the family unit is an important structure, it's been with us for thousands of years and we shouldn't give up on that."

Outstanding. I had no idea Mr. Paul had an understanding of the Faith. I'm voting for him for President if he runs, and if America is still around in '16.

IN THE VERY DEEPEST OF THEIR HEARTS, I think most people realize that what Mr. Paul said is true. (Even just plain logic says it's true.)

Wonderful. This is uplifting and encouraging for nice people. The downside is it will be stored and pulled up by the left as a soundbite for squashing anything Sen. Rand might say or wish to accomplish in the future because it will be seen as antithetical to leftists ideals.

Everyone should agree that it's better for single teens to not have children.
The disagreement comes in how they should avoid having children.
Is Rand Paul saying they should refrain from sex outside marriage or is he saying that they should abort their pregnancies?
The Libertarian Party platform calls for no laws against abortion, drugs, gay marriage, pedophilia or incest.
Perhaps there is more of the interview that wasn't reported in this article.

Spiritual uplifting on a national basis? Ok, let us start with a open, honest discussion of the following five names: Oded Ellner, Paul Kurzberg, Sivan Kurzberg, Omer Marmari and Yaron Shmuel.

Finally, a politician that understands America's problems are spiritual and nothing the communist administration can do is going to help! Read what happens to ancient Israel when they turn from God....THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING HERE!

Why can't someone start the process for a huge nationwide spiritual revival, kind of like one that Bill Graham had.

It is a light at the end of a very dark tunnel to see a politician with character and religous belief. He will have my vote if he runs for president to replace the clown now residing in the White House...

Just another politician pushing his religious beliefs on others. He should never be elected.

Let me clarify his message - The Government is setting itself up to be the only god we need in our lives. The answer to all our problems. This will never become reality and there are plenty of painful examples that Socialism does not work, never will, it's impossible without enslaving one population of people to another.

Hopefully in the line of a David or Jehoshaphat that not only believes but hears from and obeys what he hears... only way out of where we are at. God MUST direct our path now.

Rand understands that the problems humanity is facing are spiritually based, not politically or economically based.

My current book Artifice: Humanities Deception from Time Immemorial covers this topic in exacting detail from a historical perspective.

We need a 144,000 more Rands.

The Secular Humanists are hypocrites of the first order as they complain about others pushing their religious beliefs. They demand Christians keep their worldview to themselves while they do everything they can to install their worldview as the law of the land.

Without spiritual revival, this country is doomed to be led by reprobate minds incapable of seeing the truth. Terrorism is a much less a threat to our future than the self-destructive Hedonists that call themselves Secular Humanists.

# Daughter of Babylon

Oh beautiful Babylon, no more will you be known as the 'Lady of kingdoms'
You said, "I am forever—the eternal queen!"
Now then, listen, you lover of pleasure, lounging in your security
They come from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens—
the LORD and the weapons of his wrath — to destroy the whole country.
All the mixed people who are in the midst of her
they will all return to their own people, they will flee to their native land
The lattermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land and a desert
The LORD is destroying Babylon; he will silence her mighty voice
This is the plan determined for the whole world
this is the hand stretched out over all nations
How the praise of the whole earth is seized
How the hammer of the whole earth has been cut apart and broken
For she has been proud against the LORD
And though Babylon should mount up to heaven
and fortify her skies, destroyers will come to her.
Oh you who dwell by many waters, abundant in treasures, your end has come.

deacondon - to answer your question, Libertarian's aka Classical Liberals believe in the concepts of Natural Law. 2 laws, do not encroach on an individual or their property, and honor contracts. The first law which is further explained in the bill of rights defines the protection of all life. Both Rand and his father are very pro - life. Its unfortunate that statists (those who promote govt) in the evangelical wing of the republican party want to push this idea that Rand and Ron were not pro - life because they didn't want to create more man made laws to define life. Abortion is legal in this country because of a bad court decision. Congress can overturn this decision by simply removing the federal govt from the issue and having the states interpret the Constitution as is supposed to be done in a republic. Statists, some social conservatives, want govt to fix social ills, Libertarian's, constitutionalists, want to enforce the natural laws of the land which protect life.

# Babylon the Great

The woman you saw is the great city that reigns over the kings of the earth.
How much she has glorified herself, and lived deliciously,
so much torment and sorrow give her.
For she says in her heart: ‘I sit as queen, and I shall see no sorrow.’
When the kings of the earth see the smoke of her burning,
they will weep and mourn over her.
Terrified at her torment, they will cry:
"Woe! Woe, O great city, O Babylon, City of Power!
In one hour your doom has come!"
The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her,
because no one buys their cargoes any more.
They will say, "The fruit that your soul longed for is gone from you.
All your sumptuous things and shining splendor have perished from you,
and you shall find them no more."
"Was there ever a city like this great city?"
The voice of musicians will never be heard in you again.
The light of a lamp will never shine in you again.
For your merchants were the world’s great men,
and by your pharmakeia, all the nations were led astray.

Having kids before marriage doesn’t cause poverty in America.

FDR identified the cause of poverty. He said: “We are not attacking the corporations, but endeavoring to do away with any evil in them. We are not hostile to them; we are merely determined that they shall be so handled as to subserve the public good. We draw the line against misconduct, not against wealth.”

James Madison wrote in Federalist Paper 45: “The public good, the real welfare of the great body of the people, is the supreme object to be pursued.” This is how poverty is to be addressed.

FDR also said: “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”

FDR also identified a more likely cause of poverty. He said: “No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.”

Ron Paul, Spiritual Cleansing
You call for a spiritual cleansing in America. Here comes your spiritual cleansing because America needs to be cleaned of the spirituality of religion which has been known to be superstition for a long time. Pope Poniface VIII in 1302 said it correctly when he said, “How rich we are from this fable of Christ!” Priest Jean Meslier said it best when he said, “All laws and orders that are issued in the name and authority of God or the gods are really only human inventions.” Let me remind you of Andrew D. White the founder of Cornell University who showed the error of scripture and scriptural reasoning. Man has known for a long time religion is myth, illusion, errors, lies, fictions and impostures invented by the crafty. It is time for a spiritual cleansing. Religion and spirituality need to be cleaned out of America and recognized for the unreal filth it is. When the cleansing is complete, America can thrive once again being secular and pragmatic.
