Pushing the Catholic Vote

The Catholic vote in this election will be huge but especially so in certain states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. The polls in the Keystone state are beginning to tighten and what was once thought as an Obama blue state could actually swing towards Romney.

That has The Catholic Association excited and so they’ve identified nearly 600,000 Catholics in Pennsylvania that are either undecided or are soft leaning supporters of Obama. They are calling them and emailing them multiple times between now and Election Day.

In addition, their voter scorecards are going out to 6 million undecided Catholic voters in the other key swing states of New Hampshire, Iowa, Wisconsin, Colorado, Ohio, and Virginia.

Ohio and Romney: Not a Good Mix

As we all know, the real critical state for Romney is Ohio. He really needs that state to win the election. But here’s the problem for him: The latest polling shows the president up 5 points (50-45) over Romney, but the real issue is that Romney’s lead among white voters is just 5 points in Ohio, (also 50-45). That explains why Romney is having a harder time there because in Virginia and Florida, Romney leads among white voters by 22 points. (59-37)

Romney has been hurt in Ohio and the Rust Belt because the president has done a good job of highlighting the fact that Romney was against the big auto bailout and that Obama was for it and that (in his view) he saved the American car industry.

Ohio has always been tough for Romney.

Read the poll results here.

Do you feel better? Well, it turns out Romney is out in front with early voters. The respected Gallup organization shows that so far Romney currently leads Obama among early voters 52 percent to 45 percent. So far roughly 15 percent of registered voters across the country have cast their ballots already.

Will evangelicals and the Tea Party show up in droves?
