On Why Romney/Ryan Team Won’t Detail Tax Loopholes:

David Brody: There are some conservatives that have spoken out saying they want to see some more specifics from the Romney/Ryan team and one thing that comes up, at least from the liberals is tax loopholes. Is there a reason you guys aren’t naming specific tax loopholes?

Paul Ryan: Yes because we want to get it done. Look, I’ve been on the Ways and Means Committee for 12 years. I’m very familiar with how to make successful tax reforms take place. Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neil did it in 1986 but we haven’t done it since 1986 for lots of reasons, which is we don’t want to presume to say, ‘Here’s exactly our way or the highway take it or leave it Congress.’ We want to say this is our vision, lower tax rates across the board for families and small businesses and work on the loopholes that are enjoyed by the higher income earners, take away their tax shelters so more of their income is subject to taxation.

That lowers everybody’s tax rates. And we have to be able to work with Congress on those details, on how to fill it in and, more to the point, we don’t want to cut some backroom deal that they did with Obamacare where we hatched some plan behind the scenes and they spring it on the country.

We want to do this in front, in the public, through congressional hearings with Congress so that we can get to the best conclusion with a public participation. That’s the process that works the best to ultimate success gets this done. That’s why we’re doing it this way.

They do have a list of deductions they will cut.

They are written on golden plates, but Romney is keeping them in a hat and if he shows you, they will vanish.

I bet they include the Mortgage interest deduction, deductions for giving to charities including churches, and the deduction you get for paying state and local taxes.

In order to raise the $5 trillion he will need to cover his tax cut for the wealthy, the money will come from the middle class. You can only cut discretionary spending so much, the math does not add up.

What a load of hogwash. Does Mr. Lyin' Ryan think
we are all completely stupid? How can he possibly believe that we would vote for him and Mr.Change-O-Matic Romney to redo our taxes?

I have only heard lies from these two, from the phony "Welfare Gutting" claim to the silly "Aplogizing For America" claim and the "He Gutted Medicare" claim. All complete LIES,based on independent facts.

Please - go sell someone a bridge.

Ummm...So what is being said here is we should just "take your word for it"? No specifics, details at all? That sounds very much like a "backroom deal" to me. Anyone else?

Of course they won't tell us anything. They want to win at any cost. If they say what they will do, they will lose. Not since the Nixon campaign has there been a more secretive and contemptible bunch of lying republicans trying to steal an election. Good riddance to all of them.

Mr. Ryan's comments are exactly the reason the GOP will NOT get my vote. Both Romney and Ryan are sneaky. How dumb do you think citizens are? You insult us with your vapid comments. I hail from Wisconsin and you can be sure I will do everything with my citizen power to re-elect President Obama. Shame on you Mr. Ryan

If Paul Ryan had said that they had not defined loopholes in order to avoid taxpayer preplanning to maximize their benefits, that would be believable. "We want to get it done," he said. They are taking it absolutely for granted that the more community minded (more in alliance with what helps the country) Democrats will cooperate instead of concentrating on making Romney a one term president.

There is that dirty lie again: "cut some backroom deal that they did with Obamacare." The Affordable Care Act was debated very publicly for over one year. Concessions were made to suit Republicans that many of the Democratic base abhorred. Both the vastness of public info and the compromises made in the Affordable Care Act have been systematically denied by Republicans. I expect better from an organization that has Christian in its name!

I know that you are a good man. I have seen you and followed your articles for many years now and what I am about to say is honest and heartfelt. WHY are you putting all of your eggs in the Republican basket when if you just look..just pay attention you will see that people like you are being used by the Republican machine to garner your vote...and thats it. There has been no expansion of Christian ideals, no furtherance of Family values under Republican administrations. It has all been smoke and mirrors designed to trick good people like you into supporting them with very little "cost" to themselves. Take Mitt Romney for instance, he is NO conservative and he is definitely no Christian. This election cycle the Republican party, in it's hate and despair over Barack Hussein Obama have abandoned it's Conservatism and it has abandoned it's Evangelical Christian hold on the process.

A voter would have to be dumb as a box of rocks to buy in to the Romney/Ryan tax plan. They know full well that they are going to tax the middle class to pay for their tax breaks for the wealthy. Both men are consumate liars and do not deserve the trust of the American public. God help us keep these people out of the White House.

While the ACA (Obamacare) was being hashed out in congress ... EVERYTHING about it was front page news ... discussed on talk radio from the right and the left ... talked about in every break room and barber shop in America. Paul Ryan loses every ounce of credibility by making the inane comment that it was a back room deal. What in heck is wrong with them that they seem to only be speaking to a tiny slice of America? Those people who have been convinced of a talking point that is completely disproven by their own experience, but who will believe anything if it's told to them by certain "media personalities" who shall remain nameless.

Well, I believe it was Phyliss Schaffley who said, "Somebody is going to be president come January, 2013." I never thought I'd be choosing between a Mormon or a Communist. The last several elections have been a choice between the lesser of two evils. We have to put our trust in the Creator of the Ends of the Earth, the Author and Perfector of Our Faith, the Alpha and the Omega - not our government leaders. Don't sit on the sidelines and then regret it, get out and PRAY!!!

We conservative Christians are delighted with Gov. Romney's overwhelming victory in this debate, but we realize he still has a lot of ground to conquer. However, you conservative newscasters need to do a better job when you give clips of the debate or of ads or of positions, that you don't paint a better picture of Obama than of Romney. Today's Brody newscast on CBN was not of a victorious Romney over a defeated, weak Obama, as we saw on Fox and even on some of the liberal channels.
