President Obama’s Seinfeld Acceptance Speech

Remember the classic "Seinfeld" episode where George famously suggests to Jerry that they should write a sitcom “about nothing.” Well, President Obama’s speech was pretty much about “nothing” and I’m sure many conservatives found it laughable just like a sitcom.

Look, this was a boilerplate speech to fire up the base. To that end, the president did what he needed to do. For him to win, he’ll need the base to turn out for him just like they did in 2008.

The problem is that polls show enthusiasm among the base is down from 2008 and it probably won’t be matched. Meanwhile the Tea Party wasn’t formed or energized in 2008. Those two factors are poised to make a huge difference.

As for the speech, where was the boldness? Where was the meat about job creation? Where were the future promises and big audacious initiatives for the next four years? Instead the speech felt very much like recycled campaign material. We’ve heard all of this before. He said all of this in 2008.

From a public policy perspective he didn’t offer anything new or forward-looking. It didn’t break any new ground. No new nuggets. It was safe. It was pedestrian. It was a speech designed to say, “Hey, I need some more time.” That’s a fine goal but without any new material the speech felt flat.

The good news for President Obama is that safe and pedestrian (and a little flat) might just get the job done. This is President Obama’s race to lose and Mitt Romney is the one that’s going to need to make the compelling case to the American people that Barack Obama should be fired.

Romney is going to have to make Obama look like Jimmy Carter. The Obama campaign needs to make their candidate look like Bill Clinton.

Here’s the final Brody File take on the DNC Olympic Speech Medal Stand Ceremony:

Gold Medal: Bill Clinton
Silver Medal: Michelle Obama
Bronze Medal: President Obama

The speach-Big deal. We know who he is we'v seen what he's done. We've heard what he's wispered to Putin, the M.B.,the P.A. Just wait till after the electon. to Israel wait to defend yourselves til after the election. So everyone is looking to "the speach" so he can read well crafted words from a telepromter.Make obama look worse than Jimmy Carter? He has made himself look worse than Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.Like a bully dictator forcing thru bills, bypassing congress.-Bill Clinton impeached disbarred disgraced himself his family the USA. Didnt just do a nasty thing in office BUT did a nasty thing while in THE OFFICE!The oval office. I find it bizzare that he is held up as the gold standard as past presidents. And has any voice or standing in anything that matters.Talk about a war on women he is a one man war on women. This is the strangest election of my life. And the first time I ddnt watch or have any disire to watch either convention.May GOD have mercy on us that is our only hope!

Not only did Obama repeat the speech he gave in 2008, but he recycled Former President Carter's spech 30 years ago--almost the same word for word speech. Now obama is asking for another four years of 8.3% unemployment, higer gasoline prices, and national debt of 16 trillion dollars and he wants the American voter to help him. WOW, this guy has to be "out of his mind." He has had his chance and has failed. Since he has failed, this is the kind of rhetoric the Democractic liberals play when their man has failed. Check out Obama number's vs Obama's rhetoric--He is not a leader, he has proven that. Being the President and a leader of a community is quite different. His speech said nothing new, only about his desporation to get re-elected.

An excerpt from tHat gold medal speech:

So -- now, we all know that Governor Romney opposed the plan to save G.M. and Chrysler. So here’s another job score. Are you listening in Michigan and Ohio and across the country?

Here -- here’s another job score. Obama: 250,000. Romney: zero.

As an independant me thinks you protest too much. I voted Republican my entire life until I realized that they didn't support God with action. With Bush and majorities in Congress ... we did nothing to stop abortions. I will no longer allow lip service provided by the party I now refer to as REPUKLICAN( they make me sick) to destroy my country with their out of control spending that pushed this country into the WORSE RECESSION since the depression. President Obama can be demonized but as a Christian I know where he stands on the issues and know where those REPUKLICANS stand. Obama 2012

You didn't disappoint this writer Dave, you wrote exactly what a good neocon reporter would write. President Obama can afford to leave the speech making to others, his deeds speak for themselves. Without President Obama's actions the global economy would be mired in a depression that would make the 29 fiasco look like prosperity. What are you and the rest of the neocons looking for Dave, more of bush/cheney? Heaven help us!

I agree with your assessment, both of the DNC and the race .in general Romney is still reaching for something compelling and may not get there, necessitating a vote mostly based on the law of Christ and morals.

Romney's own ticket mate has abandoned him.

Ryan has already arranged to run ads in Wisconsin for his seat in the House! It's legal for him to do that, but I've never before seen a candidate for VP do it. He is making it plain that he doesn't fully believe in his own ticket. He's running away from Romney as fast as he can.

Romney is done. Few on the Right are really standing up for him. He was roundly criticized last night from both the Right and the Left for his actions during this crisis.

Romney is the least capable candidate in generations. Not only that, he has put out innumerable lies about his own record and that of the president throughout his campaign. It's been a really shameful display of putting himself above his country from start to finish.

All the problems in the middle east can be solved by the deployment of one Trident submarine. I say, nuke em till they glow and pick off the straglers after dark. God Bless America.
