Mitt Romney has sure been talking a lot about God recently. He did so in Irwin, Pa., and then the next day in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Then he really cranked it up a notch during his remarks about the horrendous murders in Aurora, Colo.
I couldn’t help but think that when Romney started referring to God over and over again during those specific remarks, we were finally seeing the authentic Romney.
This is who Romney is. He is a faithful Mormon. He cannot separate himself from his faith and he believes what he believes with every ounce of fiber that is inside of him. That’s why we saw him inject his faith into those Aurora shooting remarks because that sensitive time required Romney to be himself. To be real. To connect.
That’s what the Brody file has been saying all along. Connecting with voters at an emotional level is important for any presidential candidate, especially Romney who is a bit challenged in this area. To that end, talking about his experiences helping people through his church would humanize him more than it will hurt him.
Will he do it? Not likely. The odds of it happening are less than Harry Reid becoming a Tea Party member. Still, let the record reflect that the Brody File has given fair warning.
