Only on The Brody File: Joe The Plumber's Letter: 'I'm Blessed to be a Christian'

Joe "The Plumber,” who will take on Ohio Democrat Marcy Kaptur this fall in a congressional U.S. House race has released an article exclusively to The Brody File where he unashamedly talks about being saved by Jesus Christ and muses about President Obama’s faith as well.

He says that when he accepted Jesus, “It was a magnificent event in my life that transformed me. It was, like many people have experienced, a moment of clarity. The weight came off my shoulders.”

As for President Obama’s Christian faith, he doesn’t question it and says, “I don’t know how or when it happened, whether when he was partying at college or five minutes before he first decided to run for office, but it doesn’t matter - he came to Christ and he is my brother.”(Though when you read the whole letter, Joe "The Plumber" explains all of this in a very unique and different way! It’s worth the read)

The Brody File just finished interviewing Joe "The Plumber" at his campaign headquarters in Toledo, Ohio. In an upcoming story on "The 700 Club" you’ll hear about how he gave his life over to Jesus Christ at the age of 17. It’s a great story. Stay tuned!

Meanwhile, his article (in its entirety) is below. The campaign plans to circulate it to churches during their upcoming congressional campaign.

I’M BLESSED TO BE A CHRISTIAN
By Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher

Not that long ago, I became a Christian. It was a magnificent event in my life that transformed me. It was, like many people have experienced, a moment of clarity. The weight came off my shoulders as I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior -- Christianity has made me a better person.

I’m not saying I’m perfect, but I am forgiven. (Thank GOD)

Now you may remember that Barack Obama and I have an unusual history together. We don’t share too many of the same political views, but we do have something in common: We’re both Christians. The President says he’s a follower of Christianity and I take him at his word. I don’t question his faith, and when I read or hear people claiming he’s not a Christian because of this or that, I don’t like it.

It’s not … well, Christian. So before this election season gets into over-drive, I want to remind everyone that we’re all God’s children and our President should be given the love and respect the Golden Rule he puts forth. It’s the core of being a good Christian and if you can get that down, you’re close, my friend.

One of the reasons I really dig Christianity is that it’s so incredibly powerful and amazing. The lives of millions of people have been given meaning by their faith in Christ. And what better confirmation of that strength do we have than the life story of President Obama?

Imagine being the child of a mixed-race marriage – especially in the turbulent 60’s and free-wheeling 70’s. And when you throw in that dad was a Muslim and mom an atheist – you know it could not have been easy – and they were Communists for crying out loud! At age six, young Barry was shipped off to Indonesia and exposed to Islam for several years. His parents divorced, he returned to the US and Barack was placed with his grandparents. By the time he got to college, he was experimenting with cocaine, marijuana and even thought about using heroin.

Hardly sounds like one who would become President of the United States, the most powerful man in the greatest, most powerful country in the history of the world, does it? It seems against all odds…

… almost miraculous?

After Barack Hussein Obama suddenly cast-off his Muslim roots, rejected his mother’s disbelief in God, turned tail on the Islam of his early life and converted to Christianity - BLAM - he’s elected President. Anyone who believes the two things are not connected is being disingenuous at best. I don’t know how or when it happened, whether when he was partying at college or five minutes before he first decided to run for office, but it doesn’t matter - he came to Christ and he is my brother.

Barack Obama once famously told me he just wanted to spread the wealth around and I take him at his word about that as well. After three years of watching the policies he’s put forth, the agenda he’s pushed and the detrimental effect it’s had on our country, I don’t question it one bit…

Yes Joe, I agree with the last paragraph above 100%.

On April 24, Wells Fargo, assisted by dozens of Bay Area police, took the unprecedented step of locking more than 100 of its shareholders out of its annual meeting – a meeting they had every legal right to attend. These shareholders had a story to tell, and Wells' Chairman and CEO John Stumpf was not in a listening mood. They'd purchased stock in the bailed-out Wall Street giant, and then travelled from around the country to tell the board how its corporate citizenship gad ruined lives and wrought profound economic pain on entire communities. The previous day, about 150 people had gathered in a church to strategize the day's activities. When Wells foreclosure victims were asked to stand, about 50 people stood up. When victims of predatory lending were asked to stand, another 30 rose to their feet. One woman explained how, after losing her job, she'd fallen behind on her payments. She said Wells Fargo had offered her an agreement that would allow her to keep her home, but had then throw

The President's father certainly wasn't a Muslim by the time he met the President's mother. Obama Senior had also gone to a Christian boarding school in Kenya.

Obama senior was a brilliant intellectual and a Harvard trained economist...but obviously not so good with personal relationships. (Neither was Albert Einstein...) Senior was a liberal critic of "African socialism," and certainly not it's inventor, as some have claimed. He knew quite well both the limits and power of free market economies. He correctly predicted a future of massive African urbanization.

If the President's anthropologist mother was ever a communist, it would obviously have been a passing, youthful fancy. She was, in fact, a key developer of the capitalist microfinance concept while at the Ford Foundation.

So...the President's "communist" parents had criticized socialist policies in Africa, and had helped to expand capitalism in Indonesia and elsewhere.

Actions speak louder than words. Never blindly trust unless it is God's word.
