Brody File Exclusive: Scott Walker Says He is Not 'Anti-Union'

In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says charges that he is anti-union are “completely wrong.”

Walker is facing a recall election on June 5 after a budget bill he championed took away power from some of the unions.

“I may be anti-big government union bosses, because I think in the past, one of our problems has been they've been the ones calling the shots, instead of the hard working taxpayers in the state of Wisconsin. I put the power back in the hands of the taxpayers. What I did is also very pro-worker,” Walker said.

The Brody File spoke with Gov. Walker at his executive residence in Madison, Wis., this past Sunday afternoon for about an hour. We are releasing a few of the video clips from the interview. More will be released on "The Brody File Show" later this week and a full story will air on "The 700 Club" in the next couple weeks.

David Brody: What is your response to folks that say you are anti-Union? When you hear that, what do you think?/p>

Gov. Scott Walker: Well, you know on two counts, it's just completely wrong. In the private sector, I’ve got great partners in unions. You look at unions like the operating engineers; they endorsed me, they are still very supportive of our efforts.

Why? Because their guys are back to work, they’re working again. Unlike my predecessor who made it very difficult for people building infrastructure, roads and bridges and rail and things of that nature, we put the money back in that had been raided there.

You look at other big issues that we've done in terms of infrastructure in the state, we've had the support of other private sector unions because they want work. They want their guys to go back to work, and those unions in the private sector have largely been my partners in economic development.

The other part though, even on the public employee standpoint, it is kind of interesting, I may be anti-big government union bosses because I think, in the past, one of our problems has been they've been the ones calling the shots, instead of the hard working taxpayers in the state of Wisconsin.

I put the power back in the hands of the taxpayers. What I did is also very pro-worker.

People have to face the facts do they want to work or do they want their government to go broke.

Brody, what do people outside of Wisconsin care about Scott Walker?

Mr. Walker is not pro-worker as he claims.
- Broke election promise to negotiate with unions
- lied about running on his anti-union platform
- admitted he lied
- then repeated his lie about it being 'all about the budget'
- under oath admitted his actions 'haven't saved a dime'
- reduced public sector wages by 8% already below private sector
- raised taxes on the poor.
- Gave money to hard-luck cases like McDonald's and WalMart. Gave $14 million to a railroad whose CEO was found guilty on 2 felony counts laundering money to Walker
- worst job-creation of any state in the union.
- raped the school system of $1.2 billion. Highest grad rates and second highest SAT scores
- has stolen money from the 'foreclosure fund' aimed at helping victims of Wall Street fraud to plug the gap in his budget that is bleeding revenues because his tax base has collapsed.
- WI now has a $6 thousand per capita wage gap with Minnesota
- Lowered taxes for the rich and gave gobs to his contributors.

To: shabach - America better care about what is happening in Wisconsin...either the nationally-controlled democrat unions are subdued and are stopped from robbing the tax payers vs. the out-of-control unions' status quo...which is bankrupting our country! The majority of Wisconsinites elected Gov. Scott Walker in 2010 to get the state out of financial crisis (which he and his legislature did), yet Gov. Walker faces death-threats, constant harassment to him and his family, and a recall election. America better care what happens in WI!

When the gloom stirs go to the music and listen. May be it will sooth your nerves as thing are not going to improve in economy or cash flow. Impossible to see this word without thinking of the wonderful song from "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" -- we had an LP of this when I was a child. One of the inventions of Caractacus Potts, it looks as if the candy canes with holes in will be a great success until the factory is overrun by dogs who are attracted by the whistling sound! Some great lyrics in this musical (loosely based on a story by Ian Fleming) from the Sherman Brothers:
"Don't waste your pucker on some all day sucker
And don't try a toffee or cream
If you seek perfection in sugar confection
Well there's something new on the scene
A mouth full of cheer
A sweet without peer
A musical morsel supreme!
Toot Sweets!
Toot Sweets!
The candies you whistle, the whistles you eat.
