Santorum's Strategy to Survive the GOP Race

The Brody File interviewed Rick Santorum at CPAC about how he plans to earn the GOP nomination. How will the "little engine that could" keep on chugging?

Transcription follows video below.

David Brody: Everybody’s plugging away and working hard. You’re going to say the same thing, when I ask you how do you get to the nomination, but how do you really get to the nomination? What ultimately is going to make the difference?

Rick Santorum: Ideas. Ideas, and being the best candidate who can communicate those ideas and vision in a compelling way that people see as the best alternative to Barack Obama. That’s why I think we’re doing well right now. We’re staying out of the personal mess that Gingrich and Romney seem to be engaged in today. We’re just going to focus on what we’re going to do to improve the lives of Americans.

No exceptions for choosing abortion or "Don't do as I do, do as I say do"? Abortion to 1)save the Mrs' life, or, 2)because of defect that made the child undesirable?
I know this is private, but since he subjects us with sermons on his objection (no matter the details) to abortion, he has invited public discussion.
2004 interview with NPR Terry Gross; The story as told by Santorum: Mrs. received a risky surgery to save a pregnancy, she devoloped an infection, doctors said unless the fetus was removed she would die, antibiotics ca

Could it be that Santorum does not have a handle on the "real" issues, or that he cannot adequately defend his record, so he panders to the far right, who care little about the "real" issues?
No wonder Santorum prefers to sermonize "bedroom" issues, rather than campaign core relevant issues.
He served, 2007 -2011, on the board of directors of Universal Health Services Inc., a large hospital chain which racked up dozens of allegations of abuse during that time -- including everything from rape to suicide attempts allowed by neglect to murder.
- played a key role in the so-called “K Street Project"
- earned hundreds of thousands dollars by insider trading
- unveiled campaign ads playing up his bipartisan work with liberal icons Hillary
Clinton and Barbara Boxer
- staunchly anti-abortion although his wife had an abortion in 1996
- supported bigger federal budgets and deficits during the Bush years
- unswerving supporter for the U.S. war in Iraq
- backed the No Child Left Behind law

Santorum record continued...
- backed the Medicare prescription drug benefit
- backed a proposal bailing out consumers with a $100 rebate for high gas prices
- was complicit in a Senator friend's extramarital affair
- abides false statements being made publicly about the President
- attacked by Senator John McCain for backing pork-barrel spending
- requested more than $1 billion in earmarks during his congressional career
(now says he is opposed to earmarks)
- supporting the so-called Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska

Yes sir. We could have the man named as one of the 3 most corrupt Senators to ever serve in the U S Senate turn this nation into a dictatorial theocracy. Santorum's goal is to return to the 13th Century.

Watching the Santorum bid for the GOP nomination, and how little attention he was receiving from the press, has brought to my mind the time when Samuel was sent by God to anoint a king from the sons of Jesse. (I Sam. 16:1-13) Jesse paraded the most likely of his sons before Samuel. Each one was rejected until, finally, the youngest (David), the least likely, the one not even considered, out on the hills tending the sheep was brought in before Samuel and anointed king. We have seen Romney and Gingrich, the most likely, with million dollar budgets. Gingrich with his xperience in government and debating ability and Romney with his experience and business ability. The "most likely" may not be the chosen one in this case either. I am watching to see what happens to Santourm.

Is the alternative any better than voting for Rick? People are not perfect. We need all the facts on those claims before we can make a decision. Romney is a Mormon and we don't know how much the prophet influence the WH should he be elected.

The ranting and raving ..... and particular ly the gradually expanding influence of religion .. the evangalist's in particular ..... are disturbing . No one has an answer. They just continue to rant and rave. We have a country divided right down the middle and no one seems aware of the terrible danger in front of us.

The irony of it is, that should any of these Republican s now runniing for office, win the election, they will face a situation over which they will have less control than Obama. The only possible good outcome is that if we survive four years of Republican /Christian fanaticism , we may hope for Hillary Clinton in the future.
