Brody File Video Exclusive: Newt Gingrich on How He Has Changed over the Years: 'I do fewer dumb things.'

In an interview with The Brody File over the weekend in Des Moines, Iowa, co-frontrunner Newt Gingrich Newt Gingrich says that he’s a better candidate today than years ago because he says, “I waste less energy. I do fewer dumb things."

The Brody File was on the road this weekend with Gingrich in Iowa. We are working on a behind-the-scenes national profile story that will air on "The 700 Club" in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, we are releasing a little bit of our television interview that we did with him on the road. Watch the clip along with transcription below.

David Brody: What's the difference between being in your 60s compared to being in your 40s doing this? I mean you're running for the President now in your 60s compared to where you were 20 years ago.

Newt Gingrich: Oh, I'm much better now. I waste less energy. I do fewer dumb things. It's the difference between somebody who has a road map, and somebody who has to drive all over the county trying to figure out where he's going.

And I think in that sense, I'm much more effective per hour, than I was in my 30s. And I'm also more disciplined about knowing when to go to sleep, and knowing when to stop and knowing when to take a break than I was when I was in my 40s.
