Governor Rick Perry, who is hosting a massive Christian prayer and fasting event next month and is seriously considering jumping into the 2012 presidential race, told a Christian radio program Thursday that the upcoming prayer event in Houston will be about asking God to forgive all of us “for the sins that we have committed.”
Perry said the event will be about, “people calling out to God.”
He also made clear that he wants, “God helping me, guiding me, giving me direction.”
Asked what he wants the event to accomplish, he said that he wants, “God’s will to be done”
Perry made the remarks on the radio show called, “Today's Issues" that is broadcast nationally on the American Family Radio Network. The hosts are Family Research Council President Tony Perkins and Tim Wildmon, president of the American family Association.
Listen to the interview below. It runs about 8 minutes.
If Perry gets in (and all indications are that he is leaning strongly in that direction) he will be formidable in the GOP primaries. He has charisma; a solid record to run on, he’s an evangelical who wears his faith on his sleeve and the Tea Party loves him.
He’s a threat to the ENTIRE field.
