In an exclusive interview with The Brody File backstage at the Faith and Freedom Coalition in Washington, D.C., Friday night, Donald Trump told me he’s still leaving the door open for a presidential run saying,
“The door would be open if the Republicans do a terrible job as they have been doing in choosing the wrong person. The door would absolutely be open,” he said.
Trump says he would have to still fulfill his 11-month contract with his NBC show, “The Apprentice,” but says there would still be time to run.

Ralph Reed’s event is an important stop for prospective presidential candidates. They’re speaking to hundreds of key GOP Primary voters, made up of both Evangelicals and Tea Party members. The Brody File calls them, “Teavangelicals.”
His Faith and Freedom Coalition organization made a huge difference at the ballot box in 2010 and they’re expecting to make an even bigger splash in 2012.

David Brody: Why come down here because you say you’re not running for president but this is kind of a presidential forum in a way.
Donald Trump: Right. I was asked by so many people, different people who are friends of mine and I’m so honored at what has happened and maybe what will happen. As you know, I was number one in the polls when I announced that I wouldn’t do it and I’m very disappointed in what the Republicans are doing.
I’m so disappointed in the way they are carrying on and the kind of decisions they are making and that’s why I signed this multi-multi million dollars contract for entertainment for 'The Apprentice' and it’s been a great success. I
t’s very hard to say I give up that show with the tens of millions of dollars that are paid and at the same time have the Republicans making all of these bad decisions. So in eleven months I’m a free agent. I’ll decide what I want to do and we’ll see. They’ll still be plenty of time.
Brody: So therefore let me ask you. The door is open a crack potentially for the future?
Trump: The door would be open if the Republicans do a terrible job as they have been doing in choosing the wrong person. The door would absolutely be open.
