Exclusive: Back from the Dead: Henry Hyde Featured in New Pro-Life Radio Ad

The Political Action Committee for the conservative pro-family Family Research Council plans to launch radio ads tomorrow in the congressional districts of eight Republican House members.

The group wants to pressure these congressmen to vote FOR the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act." The bill would permanently end any federal government financial support for abortion. It is expected to come up for a vote in the House soon.

In the ad, the voice of former Congressman Henry Hyde is used. Hyde was known as a champion on the pro-life issue, and his Hyde Amendment is a law that restricts federal money going towards abortions. But pro-life groups are trying to make this restriction even stronger.

You can listen to the radio ad below (along with reading the ad copy). The ads will play for a week on news/talk stations, as well as Christian radio stations.

Also below have a look at the names of the eight House members being targeted with the radio spot.

Radio Ad Copy:

“For 35 years, the Hyde Amendment has protected federal tax dollars from being used for abortion. Obamacare changed that. This is the voice Congressman Hyde.”

(A recording of pro-life champion Congressman Henry Hyde then plays:

“I believe nothing in this world of wonders is more beautiful than the innocence of a child.

“That little, almost born infant struggling to live is a member of the human family, and abortion is a lethal assault against the very idea of human rights and destroys, along with a defenseless little baby, the moral foundation of our democracy.

“Our moment in history is marked by a mortal conflict between a culture of death and a culture of life, and today, here and now, we must choose sides.”

(The ad concludes):

“Support the ‘No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act."

(It lists the name and number for that district’s representative.)

House Members targeted:

- Judy Biggert, R-Ill.
- Robert Dold, R-Ill.
- Charlie Bass, R-N.H.
- Charlie Dent, R-Pa.
- Jim Gerlach, R-Pa.
- Dean Heller, R-Nev.
- Dave Reichert, R-Wash.
- Mary Bono Mack, R-Calif.

Here’s a little bit on the release by the Faith Family Freedom Fund:

“On Election Day, the American people made clear their opposition to using their hard earned dollars to pay for abortions and most especially during a time of such economic turmoil,” said Faith Family Freedom Fund Chairwoman Connie Mackey.

“Polling shows that Americans do not want federal dollars paying for abortion. We call on these House Members to support the bi-partisan Smith-Lipinski ‘No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.’

This bill will ensure that American taxpayers are not complicit in a lethal assault on the most fundamental of all human rights – the right to life,” concluded Mackey.
