UPDATE: AP Changes Gingrich Headline

UPDATE: The Associated Press has changed their headline on the Newt Gingrich story.

The Title used to say: "Gingrich:Love of Country Contributed to Affair"

After The Brody File called them out on it, it now says: "Work for Nation Factor in Indiscretions"

By the way, I'm available 24/7 for headline consulting.

Earlier Brody File post below:

Leave it to the Associated Press to bungle a headline.

After my interview with Newt Gingrich Monday, the clear headline was the fact that Gingrich really opened up and talked extensively about how he sought God’s forgiveness over his marital discretions of the past. Yet the AP comes up with this headline:

Gingrich: Love of country contributed to affair

You’re kidding right? Oy-gevalt.

First of all, I was in the room. Gingrich was talking about how his love of country contributed to his hard-charging work ethic. That ultimately led him down a path that was not conducive to a happy family life. But to make the link from “love of country” to the “affairs” is extremely misleading.

Furthermore, that isn’t even the headline to the story. How about “Gingrich Owns Up to Past Infidelity?” I have a few more but I have no desire to be an AP headline writer. Then again, maybe I should.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is “Exhibit A” as to why conservatives believe the mainstream media has a liberal bias. Hard to argue after this headline.

For the record, here is a link to my Gingrich interview. No link provided to the AP story.

# RE: UPDATE: AP Changes Gingrich Headline

So David, the former Speaker of the house gives you incredibly fatuous and vague reasons concerning his gross, hypocritical infidelities (remember, his first indiscretion was during his leading the impeachment for Clinton's indiscretions), you accept and let that evasive answer stand with out further asking him just HOW could "love of country" and an (normally laudible) extreme work ethic cause him to carry out not one but two adultrous affairs, and then you think the AP's perfectly appropriate headline is wrong?
Be advised David, No matter how you try to pump this egotistical hasbeen up, Newt Gingrich has the proverbial snowball's chance in HE double toothpicks of becoming President! He's got way to much baggage and his conversion to Catholicism to reinvent himself wrapped in a blanket of piety will go nowhere.
But here's hoping he does get the nomination. FOUR MORE YEARS!!

I'm still waiting for David to interview a Democrat candidate, or is none worthy of such an honor?
