Think about it. Pretend you’re Nancy Pelosi yesterday. First take a sedative. Now that you’re calm, hear me out.
Imagine if you had the gavel in your hand just like Pelosi did yesterday. She was forced to give it to John Boehner, but don’t you think she’d love to use it to whack a few people?
If you were Nancy Pelosi, who would you conk on the head? Should she conk herself for pushing a partisan agenda that didn’t have the backing of the majority of Americans? Should she conk the Democrats who defied her on healthcare? Should she conk Rep. Eric Cantor just because he’s a Republican and must get under her skin all the time? Or how about she just conks George W. Bush for old time’s sake?
I think out of all those choices the best one would be to conk herself upside the head.
Look, here’s the deal. Nancy Pelosi was EXTREMELY productive as Speaker of the House. The problem for her and the Democrats is that the productivity she created got her and her party booted into minority status.
Memo to political party in charge: (In this case, Republicans) When passing legislation, you will stay in power and be popular if you pass bills that the majority of Americans support. If they don’t support it, don’t try and go strictly partisan just to show that you can pass legislation. That won’t cut it.
And it will leave you conked on the head looking for answers.
