The GOP Healthcare Vote

The Democrats are making a big deal about how the GOP is going to take this vote to repeal the healthcare law. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Okay, so we know that there’s no chance that President Obama will overturn the healthcare reform law. That’s not the point. The reason Republicans are doing this is because they made a promise to their supporters that they will fight to repeal it. The last thing they want to do is break a promise to the voters who allowed them to recapture the majority. Some will call this a political move. I have a better word for it: smart.

Look, GOP leaders are not stupid. They understand that by taking this vote to repeal healthcare, it will garner a good size majority. That will be the first in many political statements to this President that this overall healthcare law is a major problem.

Think of this vote as throwing long on first down in a football game. Eventually the GOP is going to march this down the field with the goal of getting in the red zone and stopping this thing before it even gets started.

Keep dreaming Brody, this is just going to cause more gridlock, there will be no repeal,Dem got the Senate remember?Hopefully the GOP will work on jobs, and the budget, that should have been what they promised the voters. But then again who cares if millions have no health care, as long as the rich keep getting richer right?

I'd argue the "sour grapes" are coming the GOP leaders who responded to a legislative defeat by filing numerous lawsuits, basing an entire midterm election strategy on false attacks on the bill, and now putting time-wasting political posturing above the needs of real Americans. We need jobs, not a return to a debate that's already dragged on for way too long.
