Why Sarah Palin's Reality Show Helps Her

I'm sure Sarah Palin's critics were lining up ready to rip her as her TLC reality series hit the airwaves. After all, "Sarah Palin's Alaska" has all the trappings of looking "unserious" for anyone aspiring to be President of the United States. Even GOP guru Karl Rove questioned the logic behind it.

But you know what? The show works. It makes her look strong and commanding.

Think about it. Palin is climbing a mountain in the Alaska wilderness for goodness sake! You think you're going to see Mitt Romney doing that? Or Newt? Or Haley Barbour? (Oy-gevalt)

I think those type of scenes with Palin could indeed connect with some on the fence folks who might start thinking, "Wow, this person is one tough cookie! She's tough as nails."

I'm not saying people are going to then all of a sudden start to make the leap that she can handle the presidency. But this show makes her look more in control and strong. Those attributes are crucial in the rebooting of Sarah Palin 2.0

On a separate but related note, maybe Mitt Romney should start a reality series and we can watch him get a haircut and his suits tailored? Or how about a reality series with Mitch Daniels? We could watch him read books in his library about budget techniques throughout the centuries. Riveting.

We spent a month in Alaska this summer of 2010 and were awe-struck with the beauty of the state. We flew to Fairbanks & covered a wide range statewide driving.North to the Brooks Range, then South down the Richardson Highway, into the vast Mountainous Wrangell-Elias Range. Next to Valdez. Taking a Ferry over to Whittier, and on into Anchorage, then over to Wasilla, which was much bigger and impressive than we had imagined. From there driving up the Denali Hwy.through the Alaska Range displayed awesome Mt. McKinley rising in the distance. Land of the Midnight Sun kept the vision all the way back to Fairbanks. We didn't fly to ANWR but when FOX flew S.Palin up there, she diplomatically told the truth about the safety of the oil resources. Then Greta had a political commentator oppose the facts. I'd like to see more truth on ANWR shown again on Palin Reality TV in a strong, forthright manner, without opposition. TV Show gives hope for her, Alaska and USA. She is persistent and inspirational.

I can appreciate Sarah's athletic ability, but don't consider that a major issue, unless a candidate is fairly old, has heart issues, and may die soon... not being morbid, just factual.

I like Mitch Daniels. One would have to know more about him to understand my view. I didn't know he was the book reading/studious type, but that's necessary these days when many factors affect the country's problems. Especially those dealing with jobs and the economy - and budgets... Is he reading about budgets? His reality show wouldn't be boring once we step out of the library. Perhaps mount a camera on his helmet while he tools around Indiana cities and countryside on his Harley talking with people and getting ideas to analyze with information from books.

As an outdoorsman and a hunting, camping and fishing enthusiast, I must tell you that I found Palin's self portrayal as such in her "reality" series a little laughable. She seems far from comfortable in outdoor surroundings, although, to her credit, she seems game for the challenge. It's clear that she hasn't spent as much time in the great outdoors as she claims and her fumbling bumbling stumbling in those surroundings while perhaps no noticeable to apartment/ranch house conservatives is glaring to those of us in the know.
