Should Democratic Candidates Stay Away From President Obama in 2010?

A quick question:

If you’re a Democrat running for re-election, do you want President Obama campaigning with you? Oh sure, you’ll take the fundraising money that comes from a presidential visit but do you actually want him with you side by side? I’m not talking about those Democratic liberals who are relatively safe. I’m talking about those Democrats who may be in trouble.

Look, in an anti-Washington, anti-incumbent mood, a visit by President Obama isn’t necessarily high on the priority list. Plus, the President’s track record isn’t that good. Remember Creigh Deeds in Virginia? O-1. Jon Corzine in New Jersey? 0-2.  Martha Coakley in Massachusetts? 0-3. Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania? 0-4. (To make matters worse, with Specter Obama was nowhere to be seen on primary day . While Specter was going down in Pennsylvania, the President was in Ohio.) And now what about Blanche Lincoln? Can anyone say 0-5?  Granted, the President didn’t invest lots of time in the Specter and Lincoln races but that’s the point: the President couldn’t come to the rescue because he represents Washington now.

The President is simply toxic. In 2008 it was all about “Hope and Change”. Now skittish Democrats “hope” he’ll stay away. Otherwise the only “change” may be party affiliation in their district.

Hello! In one thought-yes, stay away-stay very far away...this President is in my opinion, a radical who needs to be in for one term, unless we can find a loophole to impeach him.
Another thought tells me to have our Christian Democrat candidates stick close to him, pray for the Holy Spirit to cast out the demons who tells this President there are many ways to Heaven. Overall, I know God is STILL in control! Blessings to all...

Finding a "loophole" for impeachment is an abuse of the process. Impeachment is a legal tool to oust officeholders who commit crimes, not a political tool to cut short the term of officeholders who were elected fair and square. Also, I don't think it's accurate to lay the defeat of 5 very weak candidates at the feet of the President.

No where is it written that a President campaigning will "guarantee" a candidate victory. At the end of the day most of the responsibility rests with the candidate.A "skittish" candidate will probably lose anyway.I also believe its a little presumptuous to say only Christians will be heaven. Its sad he had to walk into this mess at this time,if he were to resign today ,I doubt any Republican could turn things around in 16 months.
