In an exclusive interview, Dr.James Dobson tells The Brody File that all this cushy talk of holding hands and coming together in a "kumbaya" type spirit as Christians to get things done misses the point of the Gospel. Dobson says, "If Jesus had limited his message to that he would have never been put on the cross."
Dobson isn't saying Christians shouldn't work together to solve problems but rather than sometimes in all of this Kumbaya" talk the message of the gospel gets diluted.
I interviewed both Dr.James Dobson and Franklin Graham together in Washington. They were in town taking part in a National Day of Prayer pre-event hosted at the Family Research Council. The Brody File camera was allowed exclusive access.

Dr. James Dobson: "If Jesus had limited his message to that, He never would have been on a cross. I mean, there is forcefulness in what He had to say. At one point, He spoke to 5,000 people and they all left, and He turned to His disciples and asked, 'Will you go too?' he was not trying to be softer/gentler, he was trying to speak truth. You do that, and you'll irritate some people, especially those who don't want you to say it.
So, you don't get mad at them, you don't scream at them, you don't try to hurt them, but you do what's right, and you say, you reflect the truth that's in your heart. So, you know, again, there's a positive and negative to what's happening today."
