Various Pro-family activists tell the Brody File that if President Obama chooses Diane Wood as his Supreme Court nominee that would trigger a huge fight. There are plenty of other potential nominees that would be problematic but it is Diane Wood's record on abortion that would raise blood pressure levels to an all-time high.
Here is the take on Wood from Americans United for Life:
A Wood nomination would return the abortion wars to the Supreme Court because of her abortion advocacy. Judge Diane Wood is currently a judge on the US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, and was a former clerk for Justice Harry Blackmun (1976-77), the author of Roe v. Wade. Judge Wood’s record shows she places her pro-abortion ideology above her judicial duty. She dissented against partial birth abortion bans in Illinois and Wisconsin, she dissented against an informed consent law in Indiana that was nearly identical to one upheld by the Supreme Court in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, and she ruled that the federal law designed to counter organized crime (the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO)) was properly applied against pro-life demonstrators – an opinion which was effectively twice overruled by the Supreme Court.
