from White House Producer Dana Ritter:
It's official. The President will address the nation on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. from the Military Academy at West Point, on Afghanistan. The Brody File will be back to cover the speech.
Before he leaves to head to West Point, the President is expected to meet with members of Congress at the White House, and talk to allies about the decision he's made.
From White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs: "The President will want to walk through his decision-making process and give people a sense of the importance of our efforts, but reiterate for them that this is not -- this is not -- the President does not see this as an open-ended engagement. Our time there will be limited, and I think that's important for people to understand."
The White House isn't giving out many details about exactly what President Obama will say, no official numbers on troop levels, but you can expect to hear something about the President's path to his decision, that we will not be there for another 8 or 9 years, something about the cost of the war, and a call on Afghan President Karzai for a new chapter in governance.
