Remembering God's Children Healthcare Ad

Christian moderate and progressive groups are fighting back. TV healthcare wars amongst faith groups are erupting.

While conservative groups like the Family Research Council try and stop what they call "Obamacare", liberal Christian groups are making their mark too.

Sojourners and The American Values Network is out with a television ad supporting healthcare reform. It's a pull at the heartstrings type ad that invokes "Remembering God's Children". Here is a blurb from their website about the ad.

The American Values Network has produced its first television spot, which focuses on the moral imperative to act on health insurance reform. Since the nastiness of August, our country and media have been preoccupied with the political maneuvering and conflict that has dominated coverage of the debate about health insurance reform in this country. Our new ad reminds us all why we began the debate in the first place: our neighbors are suffering and our current system must be reformed.

Personally, I loved this ad. When Jesus cured the lepers he didn't ask for their current insurance info, he did it out of his compassion for people. We need to stop denying God's children help and do a true Christians duty of helping our fellow man.

Thank you for this valuable ad! We really should listen to its message during this critical health reform time. This is where our priorities should be.

# RE: Remembering God's Children Healthcare Ad

This is so upsetting and manipulative! Yes, we Christians are commanded to care for the needy - we ourselves! It is the worst abdication of our Biblical responsibility to the poor to pride ourselves on a vote for a liberal politician who will give the money to their political patrons and expand their political power, call it "health care reform" and demand credit for it.

Instead, we should be supporting outreaches to meet our brothers' and sisters'needs through the Body of Christ, through charitable organizations like Operation Blessing, our local churches, etc.

The poor deserve better than what the government has shown itself capable of providing. Remember Hurricane Katrina, who provided better care, FEMA or groups like Operation Blessing, Salvation Army, etc.?
