The depths to which political discourse and decorum in this country have deteriorated astonishes me. When FDR or JFK addressed schoolchildren, people generally thought it was an HONOR for the kids ... but when Pres. Obama does it, people go ballistic ... and by and large these are the same people who shriek "I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!" and "OBAMA SCARES ME!" at Town Hall meetings. What is going on here? Well I sure know what's going on: Less than a year into the administration, and the GOP/Fox News coalition is bent on destroying the President no matter what it takes. Even if a health care reform bill is created that the Republicans agree to IN PRINCIPLE, they will still oppose it with every ounce of energy, because they do not want Pres. Obama to have any successes whatsoever. This level of vitriol is absolutely appalling.
