Joshua DuBois Exclusive Interview: His Faith

Joshua DuBois, head of The White House Office of Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships sits down for an exclusive one on one interview with The Brody File.

I interviewed him in his hometown of Nashville this past weekend. I’ll be doing an in depth personal profile piece on Joshua DuBois later this month on The 700 Club. I talk to his parents as well. But because we love to provide the vast Brody File audience (all twelve of you) some preview clips, I’ve decided to post eight excerpts from the interview. Aren’t you lucky?

In the first clip below, watch him talk about developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. DuBois tells me that while the central force in his life is his Christian faith, he is mindful that he needs to reach out to all Americans because of the position he is in. Transcript is below as well:

Joshua DuBois: “Although i had grown up in the church as with many folks sort of had a path away from Christ and my Pastor really sort of led me into an intimate relationship with Christ and so it was a really formative period in my life from my sophomore period on.”

David Brody: “Tell me a little bit about that time with your Pastor as you say, he led you into that life. What were some of those conversations like? What was your mid set at that time?”

Joshua DuBois: “I think it was taking me away from sort of the formulism of religion as opposed to the intimacy of relationship and so it was just sort of exploring what God wanted for me and for my life and how I could best determine his will for my life as opposed to exploring the structure and nature of the Church and religion which I felt like a knew pretty well but I didn’t have that sort of intimate relationship.”
