President Obama may have the soapbox when it comes to his choice for Supreme Court Justice but a major conservative judicial network of activists is trying to get the head start in framing the debate.
The Judicial Confirmation Network has just put up a website called Obamasfrontrunners.com Link here. They are funneling conservative activists to the site where they ask the following question:
Which frontrunner is the worst liberal judicial activist?
They have three videos up and running already. They have deemed Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor and Diane Wood as theĀ top three frontrunners so you watch a quick 30 second video of each of them and then cast your vote.
Conservatives may lose this Supreme Court battle because the President is popular and has the numbers in the Senate. But that doesn't mean they're not ready for a fight.
While abortion and gay marriage will be two flash points during this Supreme Battle, I'll be even more interested to watch how the debate over "empathy" plays out. Look, the President is being very transparent in his view that he wants a judge to be empathetic. Will that play well with the public? Polls suggest most want to see a judge use judicial restraint rather than empathy.
