John McCain’s daughter, Meagan McCain is scheduled to speak at the gay Log Cabin Republican Convention this April. Her seminar will be titled as follows:

"Losing the Next Generation—How can the Republican Party attract more young voters?"

Oh, by the way, McCain’s campaign manager Steve Schmidt will also be speaking. His topic? Here’s how it is listed in their convention agenda:

“Moving Forward—Steve Schmidt, John McCain's campaign manager, discusses the campaign and the Party's path forward."

You think either one of them would have made an appearance last year during the race for President? Um-no.( Wait! Update: The Brody File stands corrected. Steve Schmidt just emailed me and said he did speak to the group last year. My bad. I apologize. Mor eon his talk here) 

Evangelicals never really did trust John McCain. They never really thought he was going to champion social issues. Speaking at the Log Cabin Republican Convention just confirms what many Evangelicals felt all along. Evangelicals were basically used by the Bush administration as a political voting block rather than any sort of instrument of change. They just wanted the votes. The cause was secondary. Same with McCain. With President Obama, while his views differ from conservative Evangelicals (which is a problem) he's at least serious about having a faith based discussion.
