Senator DeMint to Brody File: President Obama Hasn't been "Forthright" With Republicans

U.S. Senator Jim DeMint tells The Brody File that President Obama has some major work to do with Republicans if he wants their votes. You can watch Senator DeMint's remarks aboveand also read them below:

"The President has talked a lot about working with Republicans but his actions have been quite different. In fact, he’s essentially said ‘I won we’re going to do it my way.’ If he wants to work with Republicans he’s got to believe in the American people and really the American way. If his approach is more government, more spending he’s not going to get much Republican support. During his campaign, he talked about cutting taxes for 95% of Americans and cutting wasteful spending but in the first few weeks of his presidency he’s now saying tax cuts caused the recession and we need to increase spending dramatically to get us out of a recession so Obama has not exactly been forthright with us and it’s very difficult for us as Republicans to take him seriously."

DeMint has a point. If the President wants 75 vote wins in the Senate and a claim to true bi-partisanship he is going to need to find a way to curtail his big government agenda. He may have a mandate for 'change" but if he wants to 'change" bi-partisanship in Washington then huge big government solutions won't be the answer.
