Harlem Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon Praying for Obama

The World famous Harlem Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon is coming to DC on Inauguration day to take part in a prayer breakfast devoted to praying for President-Elect Barack Obama. He is now an ordained minister living in Arizona.

For those who don’t know who the heck I’m talking about, click here. He used to be a big deal. Really. Obama knows who I'm talking about.

The group “Ask for America” is going to hold their event on the morning of Obama’s Inauguration. More details here and below:

“This Prayer event will mark a milestone in the heavenlies, and we're calling out to the Body of Christ to join together with us as we declare over this nation and our newly elected officials - a cry back to holiness.

We at Ask For America believe now as never before that we must let our voices be heard across this nation. We are believing God to pour out His spirit through this prayer gathering! Please plan to join with us just hours before Barack Obama is inaugurated as President of the United States of America.

On Tuesday, January 20th, 2009, from 7:45 to 11:45 AM (Eastern time) approximately 2,600 people of all denominations and political affiliations will gather at the Marriott Wardman Tower Hotel to pray for the nation's President, Government, Armed Forces, the Media, and for our nation's revival and other important areas that are in need of prayer as it relates to the strengthening and safety of our nation!

Our prayers and declarations over these areas in our nation are important. We believe God will hear our prayers as we come together in unity and oneness and humbly petition our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on behalf of all these areas of need.

Prayer should NEVER be partisan but you know what? Unfortunately, it has turned into that at times. Jesus came down as savior of the World, not as a Republican or Democrat. My Bible doesn’t read as follows:

“Then Jesus (R) said” or “Jesus (D) walked the streets of Jerusalem."

C’mon people. There are biblical absolutes for sure but one political party doesn’t have a corner on the truth. The President-Elect needs our prayers.
