Blagojevich is Dripping Sink for Obama

Trickle…trickle…trickle…

Folks, this Blagojevich scandal is like a dripping sink for Team Obama.

Here’s the one thing we know for sure after Obama’s Thursday press conference: this situation is not going away anytime soon. This very much looks like a situation where we’re going to see a very steady stream of information leaked to the media…and that is not good news for Team Obama. This becomes not only a distraction but takes them off message. But here’s the real danger: Team Obama talked extensively during the presidential campaign about transparency and honest ethics so they better make sure that they are aggressive when it comes to laying out in the open all the contacts with Blagojevich and those surrounding him. If we read about it in The New York Times BEFORE we hear about it from Obama then that undercuts his credibility on the transparency issue.

Look if you’re going to preach transparency then everything should be out in the open right? Especially if you’re trying to clear any perception of shady business.

The Brody File wonders about the following: Clearly, the Illinois governor is frustrated with Obama because he thinks Obama isn’t going to give him anything for the Senate seat. But wait a minute. How did he get that impression unless he talked to someone from Team Obama? And if that’s the case, what were those discussions about exactly and did that person go to authorities?

So many questions. As each day goes by, there seems to be more questions than answers. We expect Team Obama to lay out any potential connections between his staff and governor Blagojevich in the next few days. The problem is this is such a tangled web and it is after all, Chicago style corrupt politics so you get the sense that this is really just the beginning and nowhere close to the end of this story.
