Obama Says Pelosi Speech Shouldn't Change Republican Votes

In today's bailout mess on the Hill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered a very partisan speech before the big bailout vote. You can read more about that here.  Some House Republicans are blaming her for the collapse of the bill because of that speech.

Obama is basically saying tonight, "Give me a break."  Watch his comments here where he says House Republicans need to not be so concerned about a partisan speech. He calls them "professional politicians."

The Republican National Committee is responding this way:

"Barack Obama's defense of Nancy Pelosi demonstrates how disengaged he is with what's happening in Congress and our economy. If Obama is interested in a bipartisan solution, he should not be defending partisan speeches. Obama and Pelosi should drop the partisanship that's causing gridlock, and instead be a part of a bipartisan solution." - Alex Conant, RNC Spokesman
