Palin's Childhood Pastor Describes Her Baptism

In an exclusive interview with CBN News, Sarah Palin's former pastor Paul Riley and his wife Helen sit down and talk The Brody File in Wasilla, Alaska. He was pastor of Wasilla Assembly of God for 40 years.

Reverend Riley was the one who baptized Sarah Palin when she was twelve years old. He was her main pastor when she was growing up in Wasilla. When she became Governor, she even named a street after him in Wasilla. He was pastor of Wasilla Assembly of God for 40 years.

In the clip above, the Rileys talk about Sarah Palin’s baptism and the events surrounding it. It happened in an Alaska lake with her whole family.  The Rileys will be part of my in depth profile on Sarah Palin airing nationally on The 700 Club Friday.

Watch the video or read the transcript below:

PAUL RILEY: We were quite involved in church camps in the summertime, and we felt this was such an opportunity for families to get involved and to participate because they're in the out of doors. There's swimming and boating and all kinds of games to play in the out of doors, and of course there was the chapel services where they made commitments and there were expressions that were made at those times.

The highlights of camps would be baptismal services because these kids would make that decision, and sometimes their family would be with them at a family camp, and they would want to be baptized. And what better place than the out of doors and a beautiful lake and to be baptized in the water. At the time Sarah wanted to be baptized, her mother had expressed she wanted her family also to be and she was also baptized at same time. So it was a wonderful day and exciting.
