Let me get this straight. First Bill Clinton thinks it’s a risk to vote for Obama and now he thinks he’s ready to be President? That may be tough for some to swallow. What Clinton did Wednesday night was what he HAD to do. He may not think Obama is really ready or even qualified to be President but loyalty to the Democratic Party trumps it all. It’s really that simple.
As for the speech itself, I thought he spent a remarkable amount of time explaining why Obama SHOULD be President. He could have tried to relive the past Clinton years of the 1990’s but he didn’t. Smart move. His speech continued to reference Obama and why he should be the next President.
Right at the beginning of the speech the first words out of his mouth were, “I’m here to support Barack Obama.” That set the tone early. He put emphasis on the word, “IS” when saying Obama “is” the man to restore American leadership in the World.
I also believe President Clinton did something extremely important. He addressed the inexperience issue by saying that people were saying the same thing about him back then too. But c’mon. Bill Clinton had many years of executive experience. That’s a big difference.
What did you think of the speech?
