John McCain’s new television ad is out. He rips into the celebrity of Barack Obama. Watch it here. <
Would you want your pastor to endorse a political candidate? Endorsing from the pulpit is one thing, but what about as an individual? Would it make you feel uncomfortable? Megachurch pastor Rick Warren is against it. Read below from The Christian Post:
Have you heard the latest song by the rapper Ludacris? The song IS Ludicrous. Listen to it here. The song attacks Hillary Clinton, George Bush and John McCain.
Joe Lieberman is glad Barack Obama is talking about his faith and Lieberman has always been a big supporter of Faith Based Initiatives but he does have one big problem with Obama’s plan. Read below about that and watch his complete answer above. <
Senator Joe Lieberman worries about the fact that Barack Obama is to stubborn to admit the surge worked. You can watch his answer in my one on one interview above. Part of the transcription is below <
Senator Joe Lieberman wasn’t too thrilled with Barack Obama’s Berlin speech. I asked him about that in my one on one interview today. Lieberman’s full answer is above but his bottom line is transcribed below: (this is only a partial transcription) <
In my one on one interview with Joe Lieberman, the Senator and big time McCain backer defends Pastor John Hagee’s controversial comments from a few months ago, saying they were taken out of context and reflects back on lessons learned about the whole endorsement fiasco. The transcription is below. The video clip is above. <
Senator Joe Lieberman, an Independent and one of John McCain’s biggest supporters tells The Brody File that he’ll speak at the Republican Convention if John McCain gives him the green light. Below is the transcription of his comments. You can watch the clip above. <
So Virginia Governor Tim Kaine has a real shot to become Barack Obama’s VP. If that happens, it’ll be John McCain vs Obama/Kaine. That’s kind of strange isn’t? However, Obama/Kaine kind of has a ring to it. It’s better than Obama/Sebelius. That sounds like a disease you get in a Third World Country. Obama/Hagel rhymes with bagel which could help Obama with the Jewish vote. (Hey I’m a Jewish believer so that comment is appropriate. I can say that) How about Oba
A high ranking GOP source tells The Brody File there’s lively discussion about how to present some of the more moderate voices in the Republican Party at their convention in September. This source tells me the following regarding the behind the scenes situation: <
A source close to the McCain campaign tells The Brody File that while McCain’s economic plan is a winner the campaign must do a better job of putting a human touch on it. <
OK, so the media is ga-ga for Barack Obama. I think most everyone will concede the point that Obama has gotten for the most part over the top positive coverage from the press. But let me go on the record to say unlike MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, I do not have a thrill running up my leg. I do however have a pain running through my left leg but I believe that is my sciatica acting up. <
Watch my TV report on Barack Obama's Berlin speech today.
Before reading any further, please watch 30 seconds of this video. It will get you in the mood for what you are about to read. <
The success of the surge has been a “pain in the you know what” for Barack Obama. Katie Couric over at CBS drilled him on it by asking three straight questions about it because she didn’t understand how he could still be against the surge even though it worked. Click here for the whole interview and judge for yourself. Obama has taken his lumps for it but I guess he figures that’s better than reversing himself on the surge and looking plain wrong in his assessment. Obama
It’s gotten to the point that there are so many rumors out there about Barack Obama that it’s become kind of laughable. Well, maybe it’s not laughable for the Obama campaign. <
One topic that often gets overlooked when it comes to the Evangelical vote is Israel. Just look at the numbers. Evangelicals are HUGE supporters of the Jewish nation. More here. <
In early August, the Obama campaign will launch a new effort aimed at bringing young Evangelicals together in support of Barack Obama. This effort was going to be called "The Joshua Generation" but the campaign ran into some legal issues using that name. The Brody File has an exclusive sneak peak at what the web launch site will look like. Click here for that.
A HUGE opportunity to make inroads with Evangelicals is sitting in front of John McCain. It will take place on August 16th when McCain and Barack Obama head to Saddleback Church and talk publicly with the influential and popular Rev. Rick Warren. <
Remember all that negative talk from James Dobson about John McCain? Well, times they are a changin’. Read below from The Associated Press: <
Obama is on record saying he is friends with Kanye West and likes to listen to his music but some of the lyrics are pretty shocking. Songs like, “Crack Music”, “Drunk Hot Girls” and “Jesus Walks” (just to name a few) are overtly nasty. No links here. A quick Google search will explain it all. Nobody is saying Obama is cranking up the volume listening to these specific songs but it’s part of Kanye West’s repertoire. He’s also friends with Ja
If John McCain picks Mitt Romney as his VP would that satisfy the majority of social conservatives? My analysis below but first read from Reuters: <
Tony Perkins, President of the pro-family conservative Family Research Council has some straight talk for the McCain campaign when it comes to the growing controversy over his position on gay adoption. McCain said in an interview he’s against gay adoption but his campaign muddied the waters afterwards when they tried to clarify and soften his position. To get up to speed on the story click here. <
Leave it to The New York Times to ask John McCain point blank about his Christian faith. Read below from his interview this past week: <
I’m confused. John McCain gave an interview to The New York Times this week saying he was against gay adoption but then his Communications Director sought to clarify those comments afterwards by saying it was a ‘state issue” and that “caring parental figures are better for the child than the alternative” of abandoned children. <
“Maria Hernandez Perez was No. 93. She was almost 2. She had thick brown hair and eyes the color of chocolate. “Kelia Velazquez-Gonzales, 16, carried a Bible in her backpack. She was No. 109 “John Doe, No. 143, died with a rosary encircling his neck. His eyes were wide open.” We can’t let immigrants break our laws with impunity. We can’t leave our borders undefended. But these people are God’s children, who wanted simply to be Americans, and we cannot
I assume you’ve seen the cover of this week’s New Yorker magazine? It features Michelle and Barack Obama and the picture is NOT flattering. See it here. <
James Dobson, President and Founder of Focus on the Family says the radio ad running on Christian radio about Barack Obama is highly seductive and misleading. He made the comments in a radio broadcast this week. Listen to it here.
A new effort to attract Catholic voters to Barack Obama’s campaign is starting today. It’s called, “10,000 Catholics for Obama”. You can see their logo on the left and their site is here. They have a video up explaining why some Catholics are supporting Obama. This site is independent of the Obama campaign but they were consulted about it.
News stories like the one today involving Iran’s missile test give Barack Obama and John McCain an important opportunity to show their presidential chops. <
The Brody File has learned that the Obama campaign held a conference call this morning with about 30 Hispanic Evangelical pastors. Immigration, faith and abortion were all part of the discussion. The call lasted about 30 minutes starting with an opening prayer and then closing in prayer as well. These calls will now start taking place every other week. <
Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr tells the Brody File that when it comes to judges John McCain can not be trusted. Basically what he is saying is that voters shouldn’t just accept the line that McCain will nominate judges like Roberts and Alito. Watch above. Read below. <
In a sit down interview with Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr he tells me that John McCain is a big government conservative who’s not in touch with true Republican values. Watch the answer above. Part of the transcription is below. <
“They cannot ignore Bob Barr the libertarian nominee for President. Both parties are worried about me taking votes from them. Now we intend to do a lot more than simply take a few votes here and there. We intend to make this a very competitive three way race.” Barr tells me his goal is to win even though he recognizes that’s a long shot. He also thinks it’s important that voters understand they don’t have to be constrained by the two party system. More on Bob Barr h
I was on Newswatch earlier today talking about everything from Obama's plans to accept the Democratic nod at the Bronco's stadium in Denver to the new "Abortion President" campaign launched by The Christian Defense Coalition. I also touched on John McCain and his popularity among GOP voters.
There is only ONE presidential candidate talking about faith.
Oh my. The fight against Barack Obama on abortion has officially begun. The Christian Defense Coalition, who are known to shock folks from time to time, have come up with a new campaign called: “Barack Obama: The Abortion President”. They are going to make clear that Obama wants taxpayers to foot the bill on abortions. They are also going to lay bare his record on abortion. They’ll conduct a news conference Tuesday in front of the Hart Senate Office Building where Obama’s
The Obama Campaign will not be using the name, “Joshua Generation” after all. In their attempt to reach out to younger faith voters, that WAS going to be the name for the effort. But the Home School Legal Defense Association contacted the Obama campaign explaining that they have the rights to that name. The Obama campaign decided not to fight it. <
Has Obama backed away from abortion rights groups on partial birth abortion a little bit? Get my analysis on this, but first read more from the AP report below:
The Brody File has been given a document put together and agreed to by conservative and Evangelical leaders Tuesday night in Denver.
Denver, Colorado, is known as the Mile High City. For John McCain and his campaign, they are probably feeling a mile high after learning what transpired in that city Tuesday night. It looks to be a key turning point for the McCain campaign.
The McCain campaign tells The Brody File that even though he won't be able to attend in person, Sen. John McCain will send a taped DVD message to the National Right to Life Convention that starts Thursday in Washington, DC.
Phil Burress is one of the mover and shakers in the conservative Evangelical movement.
When it comes to faith and politics, the Obama campaign always seems to be a step ahead. From Obama’s Call to Renewal Speech in 2006 to his faith based policy speech Tuesday in Ohio, Barack Obama has shown that he is serious about his faith and serious about public policy that incorporates the values of his faith. <
Barack Obama may be talking up his Christian faith like he's doing today in Ohio and trying his best to appeal to Evangelicals with a “new kind of politics,” but he’s got a problem. Many of his positions are the same liberal positions that have turned off Evangelicals for years. <
