War of Words over Controversial North Carolina Ad

Howard Dean and the Democrats want John McCain to pick up the phone and stop North Carolina’s Republican Party from running a controversial ad linking Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright. Watch here:

Here’s part of Howard Dean’s statement:

"This is a test of leadership for John McCain. If he can't pick up the phone and make members of his own party stop airing a television ad he claims to oppose, how can he lead our country through an economic crisis or the war in Iraq?

I just spoke with Republican National Committee Deputy Chair Frank Frank J. Donatelli who tells The Brody File the following:

“The RNC, I guess unlike the DNC is not a dictatorship. State parties are sovereign entities. Our chairman Mike Duncan did speak to North Carolina officials. Senator McCain sent a strongly worded note expressing his view that the ad should be pulled. Look, all we can do is make clear our beliefs in this matter and I think we did that forcefully and strongly as soon as it came to our attention.”

Have you seen the ad? What do you think? Fair game or not?
