Why is the Iranian Regime Supporting Occupy Wall Street?

It sounds strange at first, but when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. The Iranian regime is clearly relishing the Occupy Wall Street movement (see here and here) because OWS is largely anarchic, anti-capitalist, and anti-American. The Iranians support any movement which weakens the social fabric of America and sows division and disunity.

OWS certainly does that: look no further than the disturbing eat-the-rich rhetoric, violence, anti-Semitism and even sexual assaults at OWS rallies. The more chaotic the cultural, political, and economic landscape in the U.S., the easier pickings we are for the Iranians, in the mullahs' view. Remember: we are the Great Satan and the mullahs' ultimate target. What's bad for us is good for them.

So the Iranians--and Islamists of all stripes, really--will gladly piggyback off the Occupy Wall Street movement because, like the Islamists, it seeks to destroy America as we know it—and by extension, Judeo-Christian, Western civilization.

That's why it was no surprise to see the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Zuccoti Park last week amongst the OWS rabble, leading Friday prayers. In the Islamists' view, the Marxists, madmen, anarchists, and disgruntled leftists who have frequented OWS rallies from coast to coast are nothing more than useful idiots for the jihad. So are the Nazis who have jumped aboard the bandwagon. Whether the OWSers realize it is another matter.

Like the OWSers, the Iranians and other Islamists also hate capitalism because under sharia, only an Islamic financial system can rule. And one last thing: notice the Iranian regime's deafening silence the past three years regarding another mass American movement, the Tea Party, which is pro-American/pro-capitalism/pro-peace through strength.

That silence is not a coincidence.
