Security Source Tells Stakelbeck on Terror: 'Yemen is Gone'

I spoke to a trusted security source today who is well-traveled in the Middle East and has spent significant time in Yemen, including recently. (He's the "Jack Bauer" type I reference in the introduction of my new book, The Terrorist Next Door and in this blog entry).

He told me that Yemen "is gone" and will become a failed state in the very near future--an anarchic, nightmarish place where al Qaeda only gains in strength. (I outlined some of the reasons for this the other day on "The 700 Club.")

My source pointed out that Yemen sits right across the Gulf of Aden from another failed state and al Qaeda safe haven, Somalia. He predicts that we could see increased jihadi traffic between the two countries and perhaps even Yemenis taking a cue from their Somali neighbors by engaging in piracy along the coast of the Gulf of Aden, where some 40 percent of the world's oil supplies pass through.

Stay tuned--and pray for Yemen.
