Latest Developments in Fort Jackson Investigation

I received the following information today from Fort Jackson spokeswoman Karen Soule regarding the investigation into five Muslim soldiers who allegedly threatened to poison food at Fort Jackson in South Carolina:

Of the five Soldiers being investigated for verbal threats against fellow Soldiers, one remains under investigation at the current time.

Very good to hear that four of the five men have been cleared after a the two-month investigation. Not sure why the other man is still under investigation, but CBN News will continue to inquire as to his status.

A side note: the Lima 09 translator program, which these five are a part of, was moved from Fort Jackson to Fort Huachuca in Arizona in December, around the same time the investigation into poisoning allegations got underway. Spokeswomen at both posts maintain that the move had nothing to do with the investigation. From a Fort Huachaca press release supplied by Karen Soule:

Relocating the course to Fort Huachuca will achieve efficiencies and synergy in the generating force through training of similar military specialties while saving resources as the 09L specialty and force structure matures.

“Having 09L Soldiers working side-by-side with human intelligence collectors and military intelligence officers increases realism in training and an understanding by Soldiers of how to work as a team,” Col. Dennis Perkins, Deputy Commander for Training at the U.S. Army Center of Excellence said...

Perkins explained that in 2003 when the Army began enlisting native speakers as translator/interpreters to support Soldiers deployed in, there was no designated proponent for them. AIT for 09L Soldiers was placed at Jackson. A few years after the 09L MOS was established, military intelligence was named the proponent. Now the decision to move the translator/interpreter AIT course to has been made.
