Fakhravar, who is now based in Washington, D.C., spent years in Iran’s notorious Evin Prison, where he was brutally tortured by the regime’s thugs. His crime? Speaking out against the brutality and repression of the Islamic Republic.
Fakhravar, who now works for the Confederation of Iranian Students, told me that he is “disappointed” in the Obama administration’s passive response to the widespread protests inside Iran against the regime this summer. And that was just the beginning of his criticism.
