5 % of Gitmo Detainees Re-Join Jihad

5 %, or 74 of the approximately 540 detainees who have been released from Guantanamo Bay prison in recent years. But here's the hitch: none of those jihadists  were released onto U.S. soil. Could that be about to change? From Breitbart:

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Pentagon says about 5 percent of terror suspects released from the U.S. navy prison at Guantanamo Bay so far have returned to the fight against the U.S. and its allies.
Data released Tuesday suggests that an additional 9 percent of freed Guantanamo detainees are suspected to have rejoined what the Pentagon defines as terrorist activity.

In all, 74 of approximately 540 detainees that have been released have either returned or are believed to have returned to the fight.

The Pentagon says it has fingerprints, DNA, photos or reliable intelligence to link 27 detainees to the war since their release. Some constitutional lawyers have disputed the data because it is not specific about the evidence used to track the detainees.

With the President insisting on closing Gitmo, one option that has been thrown around is trying detainees in U.S. federal courts. But what if a few of them actually win in court and are released onto American soil? Could that 5 % number grow?

# RE: 5 % of Gitmo Detainees Re-Join Jihad

Pardon me... but these folks released were found not guilty of being part of the jihadists.

If I am correct they were found innocent of being part of the jihad movement. If that is the case then they became terrorists as a direct result of their being put into prison for no good reason.

I have a gut feeling that many if not all of the folks going into terrorism were forced to after being released from PRISON --- they had no where to go after being in PRISON accused of terroism.

We have great protection here in america against terrorists... if Cheney had listened to the intelligence he was given the year before 9/11 those terrorists would never have succeeded. We need to stop living in fear and do what is right.

Next folks are going to want to put anyone in prison who you think may commit a crime --- how silly.

Our prisons are full, we are going to have to release the prisoners in many areas soon because of economic concerns, we don't need the fear game played out again!
