I'm sure by now you've heard of the tragic terror attack here in Jerusalem. The last major terror attack in the city that I can remember took place in February of 2004. At that time, a suicide bomber blew up a bus where eight people lost their lives.
This time a gunman with a rifle and grenades attacked one of Jerusalem's yeshivas, a Jewish religious school. At the time, there are conflicting reports but as many as eight may have died in the attack with several others wounded, a few seriously.
I just received a report that the gunman came from a village on the south side of Jerusalem called Jabu Mukaba and was possibly a member of Hamas. It wouldn't come as a surprise since a Hamas spokesman in Gaza already called the action "heroic."
For many here in Jerusalem that lived through the years of the Intifada, the attack evoked memories of the many terror attacks during the years of 2000 to 2004. We can hope and pray that another wave of terror will not break out.
