Climategate: Nothing Left to Worship

Climategate, the release of emails showing that the climate change threat has been fabricated by scientists, presents the Left with a grave spiritual crisis. Yes, for the bloviating UN climate bureaucrats and some unscrupulous scientists, the climate hoax was perhaps nothing more than a jobs program. But the Save the Planet crusade was, for the hard core, a de facto religion that required faith, sacrifice and personal standards of "holiness"—saving energy, recycling, driving hybrids, etc.  (Please, no emails about being a good steward of the Earth. I recycle too, voluntarily. We’re not talking about that.) This was a program that wanted to mandate the correct way a human should live and what they should be allowed to consume.

So, with the reputation of some key climate scientists--the environmental movement’s religious scholars--now in tatters, the reaction by the Left to Climategate--alternately defensive and dismissive-- is to be expected. And that the Copenhagen Climate Summit is still happening next week is no surprise.  Having long ago rejected the traditional Judeo-Christian worldview and capitalism, the radical environment movement--including it's elite in suits and ties--is a group that spiritually and ideologically must feel that it has nowhere else to go. Will the faithful suddenly make peace with capitalism and limited government and enjoy living guilt-free in a wealthy civilization? Can they just roll up their banners, go home and say it's ok to drive the SUVs they once denounced as symbols of selfishness and evil? Will they finally allow themselves and others to enjoy cheap energy from the abundant supplies of coal in this country? How about reviving the simple luxury of incandescent light bulbs? Or seeing that the Earth was created for man, and that mankind is not a sinister outside force destroying it?

Some will, maybe. The fellow travelers who bought into climate change because of the global media campaigns are now leaving the faith in droves. But 20 years after the fall of communism, the communists still march in Moscow and Paris. Faith persists when the alternative is too terrible to contemplate.

We always give ourselves to much credit, I never bought in to this Global warming scam. I agree that it is still important to be a good steward in what we consume. The problem we now face is that the whole green mindset is driving our economy further to to the dumper. Hopefully people will look to our awesome God for the real answers.

I just don't understand... Al Gore SAID it was happening. I mean heck, I thought we'd all be dead by now. Well it's a good thing Obama stopped Global Warming, huh?

All hail Obama.

Christians who have read the Book of Revelation have known about global warming for at least 1,000 years. Revelation 16:8, "And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire".
It is the wickedness of mankind that calls down fire from heaven. So let's get busy and reduce those carbon emissions!
By the way, Russia is very upset that it will lose its carbon credits in 2012 if the Copenhagen treaty is ratified.

Let's all pray the trickle of revelation about this hoax becomes a flood that extinguishes "global warming" from our news and text books

This is how I explained it:
The earth was perfect(when all ecosystems were complete and there was not extinction)

until mankind sinned (capitalism, industry & big oil)

and now sacrifice is needed (living without toilet paper & other conveniences)

and we should all rely superior beings(scientists & the leftists) to lead us to the promised land (primitive living in the giant commune)

etc. For the choice is always to follow and serve God or some cheap counterfeit such as global warming, which was the atheists attempt to make earth worshippers of us all.

God is for stewardship of the earth, which is different than the bondage to the earth "global warming & going green" entails.

# Carbon Credits Fraud

The real scandal at Copenhagen is not carbon emissions but carbon credits fraud. European police believe that there in the past 18 months nearly $7 billion was stolen from taxpayers by carbon credit swindlers (CBC News).
George Soros, the main financial backer of President Obama, is a major player in the new carbon credits market. He plans to invest billions of dollars in new "green" technology and suggested that developing nations use their gold-backed SDR funds to invest in that market. In other words, invest in my companies!
If you will recall, Soros was fined $2.3 million in France for insider trading and shorted the Bank of England for $10 billion. He obviously plans to make a killing in the carbon credits market.
The newly-created "market" in carbon credits means you can shut down a manufacturing plant and claim credits which can then be invested or traded.
Russia fears it will lose carbon credits in 2012, when Kyoto expires.

The emails made between scientists at the University had been kept for 13 years. Just because one stolen email made in haste by one individual, that at worst appears to be a suggestion to use a dodgy analytical method (more likely a potential pitfall highlighted with jest), is hardly evidence of a grand conspiracy nor is it proof that man made climate change doesn’t exist.

There is neither proof nor disproof of the existence of man made climate change. There is evidence both for and against its existence, supposedly with the evidence ‘for’ stacking up much higher. Scientists realise that there isn’t absolute proof either way, yet many of the religious-right in America wrongly think that there is.

Since the existence of man made climate change is in question, people should be thinking in terms of potential outcomes given the actions taken.

If man made climate change doesn’t exist and governments take action on the assumption that it does, the worst case scenario would be that people would have fewer luxuries when they could have had more. If man made climate change does exist and governments do nothing to stop it, the worst case scenario could be catastrophic with the potential for higher sea levels, species extinction, unpredictable and lethal weather, famine, disease, drought, and the collapse of eco systems ultimately leading to the collapse of societies and economies.

Being cautious and reducing risk is somehow seen as a leap of faith or a sign of gullibility by many of the religious-right climate change deniers. I support the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions because I would rather be safe than sorry, not because of a baseless belief held with absolute certainty.

I have the same sensation as when I heard Iran had given up its ambitions to create nuclear weapons.
