Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne and Britney Spears share something in common. They, and many other professional singers on the music charts these days, got their start singing in a local church choir.
Many hours, an estimated 8.5 billion hours, are volunteered by the 32.5 million choir members in the United States alone each year. To honor that commitment, a special appreciation day is scheduled for this Sunday, January 8, 2012. National Choir Appreciation Sunday encourages pastors and congregations to thank these worshippers of God.
Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton aren’t novices when it comes to church music, as they also performed in church services as children. The two actress/singers co-star in Joyful Noise, a new Warner Bros’ film about two choir members’ work to win the national choir competition. Joyful Noise releases in theaters nationwide on Friday, January 13, 2012.
To spread the word about NCAS, Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton posted videos on YouTube.

The famous stars first listed in this blog obviously aren’t singing God's praises anymore; and they are missing out for it. There is nothing like singing songs that honor God with a joyful choir.
To the millions of dedicated choir members belt out tunes of thanksgiving and praise each Sunday morning, we say, thank you for your faithfulness to lead us in worshipping our God.
