It's spring break and time for a week long recess. A trip to the beach is just what we need. So we begin packing: Cool sunglasses, check. Suntan lotion, check. Flip-flops, check. Beach towel, check. We’ve got everything that’s appropriate for fun in the sun or do we?
When I was in junior high school, my youth pastor used to lead us in this song: I've got a river of life flowing out of me,
Makes the lame to walk and the blind to see, Opens prison doors, sets the captives free, I've got a river of life flowing out of me. Spring up, O well, within my soul,
Spring up, O well, and make me whole, Spring up, O well, and give to me, That life, abundantly.
Companies are strategic in how they target buyers. They want to lure shoppers in the language that particular market understands. Last weekend I saw an interesting example of this. A large ad hung from a youth store window that said: "Gotta Have It Now."
Throughout the day the enemy of your soul shoots fiery darts laced with the poison of discouragement to wound you. Discouragement may come with a sharp word from someone at school, a coach, teacher, parent, or even a friend who has a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.
