I always made these with my girls as they are so simple and easy for children to help with. My girls are now 31 and 28 and still request them every Christmas. Now, my 10 year old granddaughter makes them with me.
Like the saying...you always have room for Jello and this is so nice no matter how much turkey you have eaten. My 5 kids always ask for this and now are making this for themselves to share.
This is a great easy-to-do project for little hands and busy moms! I got this idea one day when thinking of a fast and easy Christmas cookie project for my 7 year old. She loves making these cookies.
Every year at Christmas time, my sisters and I would get together and make all kinds of cookies for Christmas day. It was a very special time for all of us growing up.
Christmas was very special at our house when I was a child and baking was one of our favorite family activities. Dad would mix the dough, the kids would form the cookie on the baking sheet, and mom would watch the oven. Then, we would sit down and enjoy the wonderful creations! What a fun memory we all have of this special time of year.
Our Christmas Day dinner doesn't happen until the afternoon so we're up early Christmas morning to open presents and have breakfast. About mid-morning, we all get the munchies and this coffee cake is a yummy treat we have with hot chocolate or tea to hold us over until the big Christmas dinner later.
My former father-in-law agreed to clear the lot, and his requested payment was a batch of pralines every Christmas. He has gotten a batch every year since, except for 2005 when my kitchen was out of commission because of Hurricane Katrina. It is now a tradition for my family that we have pralines every Christmas.
I make this recipe every year for my office's Christmas lunch because everyone loves it and they make demands to taste it at the Christmas season (when hardly anyone ever turns away desserts).
This snack was my Mom's specialty at Christmas and I remember her making them every year. It is quick and easy and tastes yummy.
