Snowstorm Hits Global Warming Rally

I am not an expert on global warming or environmental issues, but I can pretty confidently say that if I were in charge of any global warming lobbying group, I would stage my most significant events during the months of June, July, or August.

When you can barely walk down the street in DC without sweat pouring off your body, you have a decent shot of thawing the heart of even the most adamant global warming opponent.

On the other hand, your message loses its punch when you're staging an anti-global warming rally on a day when parts of the metro area are blanketed with ten inches of snow.  Today, Power Shift 2009 is wrapping up its four-day global warming conference with thousands of young climate advocates huddling together for warmth during a rally on Capitol Hill.

The initial press release estimated 10,000 would participate in today's events of lobbying congressional leaders and attending the rally, but according to the Power Shift website this morning, only 5,000 are expected to take part.

On this DC day, when both the temperatures and stock market seem to be plummeting closer to zero, I hope that the group has more success in achieving their goals of "rebuilding the economy and securing a clean energy future" than in scheduling a date for the rally.
