President's Devotionals Focused On Comfort

After the speech last night, I was wondering (and I'm sure others were too) how the President has been dealing with the tragedy in Tucson. Not in a presidential way but in a personal way.

I asked the White House if there were any special spiritual preparations President Obama had been making before the speech last night.

Today, I found out the President has been receiving e-mails from ministers offering thoughts and prayers on the tragedy. He also reviewed scriptures he thought would best comfort families in his remarks.

Last night, he spoke from Psalm 46:4:5 "There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fail; God will help her at break of day."

The White House says in addition, the President's daily devotionals have been geared towards issues of comfort and renewal.
