The Obama White House agrees with Gen. David Petraeus's reaction to a Florida pastor's call for "International Burn a Koran Day."
"We know that that type of activity is being transmitted to places like Afghanistan. It puts our troops in harms way," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said.
You can watch a CBN News report about this here.
The National Association of Evangelicals has condemned the burning of the Koran.
"It sounds like the proposed burning is rooted in revenge. Yet the Bible says that Christians should 'make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else' (1 Thess. 5:15)," said Leith Anderson, NAE President.
By the way, Gibbs was asked if he had heard of any plans to intervene in the Florida pastor's plan. He said he had not.
In other news, we now know the President's plans for commemorating the 9/11 anniversary this year. He'll be at a memorial service at the Pentagon. Vice President Joe Biden will be in New York. And, as previously reported, First Lady Michelle Obama will accompany former First Lady Laura Bush in Shanksville, Penn.
