Top 5 Motivators for Weight Loss

Many people say that motivation is an elusive and mystical thing and that, while essential to losing weight, is intangible and difficult to grasp and therefore brings weight loss to a halt. Some say that motivation can be found in following an eating plan, journaling your food and exercising. Motivation is something that comes from the doing; that is a certainty. But before you can “get started, you must believe that you are worthwhile and able to succeed.

I think you need motivation in order to successfully do all of the things that successful dieting requires! Yet the paradox is that in doing those things motivation is built up. It is true that doing those things that bring about weight loss creates motivation, however in order to actually do these things and to “get started” we need some pre-motivation motivation.

1. Figure out what your goals are. Why you want to lose weight, how it is going to change your life?
2. Identify ONE small change that you can make that would help you reach your goals. Make drinking water each day, 64 ounces, a part of this change.
3. Choose a reward that you would like to earn each time you reach a goal or mini-milestone.
4. Take an inventory of the traits that you life about yourself—nothing negative!
5. Look in the mirror and have a talk with yourself, remind yourself of those traits each morning and repeat a positive affirmation.

If you do these things for a few days or weeks while you are investigating which style of eating suits your tastes and needs; you will be building a sound foundation on which to grow from. That is going to start to get you motivated right away isn’t it?You are going to feel secure and not rushed to start something too overwhelming right away. Be active on the blog, come visit and comment; let me hold your hand and gently bring you to the new changes you are going to make. And give yourself some time to allow each new change to become permanent before taking on another. Each success that you have will be a notch in your motivation belt and help you to go strongly into another day filled with temptation at every turn.

Then, once you are ready to take on bigger change, get my journal (part of my full 26-week program, but get a free peak at it on www.ViceBusting.com ) in hand and let's craft the "diet" that feels like you can adhere to it (take a sip of water!) till your dreams and goals are all in sight.

Remember this journey is NOT just about food and exercise; it is about YOU!
