Healthy is as Healthy Does!

I love the movie Forrest Gump, in it his momma tells him "Stupid is as stupid does", well, I am going to tell you "Healthy is as healthy does!"

What do I mean by that?

It is GREAT to say that you want to lose weight.

It is great to WANT to lose weight.

It is wonderful to really want to lose weight.

BUT, only healthy actions are going to ensure that you actually lose weight!

You can't fake it, you can't sort of do it, you can't have someone else do it for you and you can't blame someone else for your lack of progress or follow-thru with your resolves.

But, there is good news; you can turn it around right NOW!

So what if you chose something unhealthy this morning, you don't have to wait until "tomorrow" or "monday" to get started and back on track! You start RIGHT NOW!

Rather than put so much pressure on yourself by say that you are "dieting" or wanting to lose weight, why not approach your desire to lose weight as a journey to get optimally healthy?

It really takes a LOT of pressure OFF of you and puts a priority ON you; ON your life, your health and your actions!

It is unhealthy to choose the donut; healthier to choose the banana or yogurt! both are creamy and soft to eat and taste great; but the donut is UNHEALTHY!

It may feel good to lay on the couch tonight and watch tv but it will feel better and be HEALTHIER to get some exercise first!

Life is all about choices.

Choose wisely. Your choices determine your outcome.

What choice can you make today that will make you healthier?  Share your ideas here.

# RE: Healthy is as Healthy Does!

My problem is I do eat healthly most of the time but I eat too much especially in the winter when I do not get out and walk 3 -5 miles each morning, plus I have notice I get the "blues" this time of year and thats when I tend to overeat more. I have packed on a whopping 60 lbs in the past 10 years - what I over eat is proteins not so much sugar stuff.
I would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks!

Katenally, you have to get your exercise, maybe a home machine like an elliptical or treadmill. Weight lifting is essential, get 2 5lb weights and use them for arms, squats, lunges...

and too much of anything, even a good thing, makes it not a good thing any longer!

You can get that 60 lbs off in one year by making small changes.
