Realistic Weight Loss Resolutions

Are you realistic or unrealistic when setting your New Year's Resolutions or weight loss goals?

An example of a realistic goal is to say 'you are going to give up soft drinks and replace them with water in 2008', and an unrealistic goal is to say you are going to lose 100 lbs by doing so.  Realistically, if you drink one soda a day, that ONE CHANGE could lead to 15 pounds of weight loss! Imagine if you drink 6 or more how much weight you can lose?

If you are unrealistic when you set your goals, that may be why you end of frustrated year after year. Your intentions are good, but your follow through is lacking a foundation!

I don't think we intentionally set ourselves up to fail when we vow to lose weight. But we end up mad at ourselves as though we were to blame when the resolution fades, the pounds stay and the frustration grows. I think we try to change too much too soon and therefore can't stick with it.

Do you want to do it differently this year? Do you want this to be the year you realize your weight loss dreams and goals? If so, you are in the right place! Vice Busting is the way to permanently change your lifestyle; ONE healthy step at a time.

To JumpStart your New Year's resolutions I am doing a 21-day challenge to help you build a strong foundation on which your resolution to lose weight can successfully grow for the entire year--and the rest of and BEST of your life! To help you get started, I'd like to give you my blockbuster CD "Secrets of the Fittest"  -- it's free and sure to help you realize change in the coming year.  You will also be signed up to get FREE motivational emails from me to help you realize your weight loss goals and learn about tools that might help.

The "Secrets of the Fittest" CD will give you insights into exactly how a fit person lives, what they do that you aren't doing or might do more healthfully! Isn't it time you were let in on the secrets to losing weight and living fit? Click here to get started.

I love Pat's Weight Loss Protein Shake but it seems like a lot of calories. I always debate whether or not to have one. I know it's good for me but I don't see how I can loose weight drinking one every morning. I am 60 years old and weigh 140 pounds and would like to loose 15 pounds. At this age, weight just doesn't come off. What is your suggestion? Thank you!

meal replacement shakes are a great way to trim down and I think Pat's are great. I would recommend mixing it with water or rice, soy or skim milk, making ice cubes more of your base than milk, and adding some fresh fruit. You will get a lot of volumn of food and nutrients but not as many calories as other breakfast items. We must eat breakfast to get our metabolism moving, and you need to add some weight training into your regime, or more than what you are currently doing to push results.

Pat's Weight Loss Protein Shake is water-based. No milk. And it includes strawberries and blueberries. I followed this plan over a 2-year time period and DID lose weight. But rather than drinking the whole shake for breakfast, I saved almost half of it for my evening snack.

I am on a special diet because I have cardiac problems, diabetes and hemochromotosis. My doctor wants me to lose 20 pounds. I cannot seem to lose the weight in my hips and stomach. I am trying the Forte Juice Diet but so far have had no success. What would you suggest?

I also have some physical limitations that restrict an exercise or even regular walking regimen. I have 2 bad knees, (one replacement)and arthritis. I get so discouraged that I just end up eating what I shouldn't.

mpmmccoy, I would like to know a bit more, like what you eat on a typical day and what exercise you do. Yes, certain conditions make it harder to lose weight but NOT impossible! Usually on closer examination, we find we eat more than we realize, not as good of quality nutrients as we should and don't work out as much as we are able. Start drinking more water to start out, it will help! and I totally recommend taking Juice Plus, go to www.JPSupplement.com to learn more about it. Dr. David L. Katz wrote something a year or so ago about more fruits and veggies helping fibromyalgia!

# RE: Realistic Weight Loss Resolutions

amisurvivor, generally my answer is this; you aren't overweight because you lack the Forte Juice Diet plan, you are overweight because you have developed some unhealthy habits that put the weight on and keep it on. So, with that said, identify a few bad habits that you can and should break. That is a more long term approach and will deliver lasting changes!

# RE: Realistic Weight Loss Resolutions

for both lkings18 and jboat55, physical limitations are real and something that you have to consider, but you don't let it stop you and you certainly don't let them drive you to eat things you shouldn't which in turn only compound the problem!

Get a pedometer and start wearing it! Try to do a few more steps each day than you did the day before. As little as 50 more steps--depending on how you feel. In no time you can build to a regular day doing 10000 steps a day and really improve your fitness!

And, while at the store getting the pedometer, get 2 3 to 5 lb weights and start using them to do arm exercises building some lean muscle mass! Muscle burns fat 24/7!

# RE: Realistic Weight Loss Resolutions

Someone mentioned Forte shakes, I don't know about them, Pat's shakes taste great and are very effective.
If you think that she would benefit from a more stuctured weight loss plan of personal coaching and food from shakes, protein bars, puddings, oatmeal and soups with one fresh 'lean/green' self prepared/cooked meal per day--then there is no better than www.DrinkChooseLive.com, it is Medifast's take shape for Life program and I would be her personal health coach!

I have been drinking this shake every morning for the last 2 weeks, a light lunch and a sensible dinner and I have gained 6 lbs!!!! Not the results I expected. I thought I would lose weight like my friend did!
